Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1344543They usually only fire when it's a guy swinging beer cans at them, or amputees in wheelchairs, a woodcarver whittling with a three-inch knife ... things like that. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1344543Sounds like they were injured from the one bullet that hit the first time he fired. Evidently it destroyed part of the gun or the bullet fragmented hitting the other police. Could have put some eyes out or hit their firing arm or hands. That would distract them long enough for him to throw down his weapon. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1361018 United States 07/14/2011 02:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This almost happened to me about 40 years ago. I had just went to bed when I noticed flashlight beams in my bedroom shining through from the front room door window. Then immediately after I heard someone trying the door knob. I got up and went to the door and there were 2 big ole boys outside IN PLAIN CLOTHES DEMANDING I OPEN THE DOOR. Now understand the whole top panel of the door was thin plate glass so I could see them well and they could see me well. I did not open the door I simply asked them who they were. One of the goons flashed a billfold badge but did not give me any time to check it out. Then they started getting beligerant trying to open the door and and such. My new brotherinlaw lived around the corner and had just gotten busted in on and beaten up a few days before; so I was reluctant to just open the door for these goons. I was just getting ready to turn to go into the bedroom to get my gun when I noticed 2 plain clothes cops across the street hiding behind parked cars...FORTUNATELY there were street lights! I let the goons in and they of course figured out I was not Roger who had lived in the little house before me. I knew Roger well from my neighborhood growing up. He had been disraught over his 15 year old wife leaving.... so he robbed a gas station so he could go to prison. The SOB had started dating the girl when she was 11 YEARS OLD and he was about 22. I can't remember if she was 12 yet when they married. (Whore mother lied about her age and signed for her!) I do know that she got into trouble at age 12 and the judge yelled and said, "I don't have any 12 year old girls that are married in MY county", and sent her home to her mother. Roger just went out to her mothers to live with her there. Anyway I know that those detective would have blasted me back through the bedroom door if I'd walked out of the bedroom with a gun. I later learned my brother in law was a POS also and DESERVED to get his ass kicked. POS Roger got out of state prison in less than a year and his daddy bought him a brand new camero "cuz he felt sorry for him". POS picked up a 15 year old kid hitchhiking, then hit another car head on cutting the camero in half.... killing the kid in the back seat. HIs family moved back to Kentucky a few a months later and POS Roger never PAID for his drunk driving crime. |

He got lucky - maybe the cops were frozen with fear and injuries. --- So, when the door is kicked in, Jones fires his weapon. The bullet hit one of the officers' weapons and shrapnel hit three officers, injuring them. Jones is heard on the 911 recording screaming after the shot is fired. "Oh [EXPLETIVE], I'm sorry sir! 'm sorry sir! Please don't shoot, sir! Please don't shoot, sir!" OPERATOR: "They kicked in the door?" OFFICER: "Put your hands up." JONES: "Sir, please, I’m laying down my weapon, sir." Jones said the second he realized he fired at officers, he threw down his weapon. Through the whole ordeal, the 911 operator still seems confused about who is at the door. "Are the officers there?" she asked. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1467025That's the most bizarre part of this story. The guy would normally be summarily executed right on the spot. Maybe his politeness saved him ("please don't shoot sir!"). |
