Anonymous Coward User ID: 1309684 United States 08/19/2011 06:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Jun 17,2011 Quoting: childreninprisonsA Judge in Corpus Christi, Texas had some harsh words for a mother charged with spanking her own child before sentencing he to probation. "You don't spank children today" said Judge Jose Longoria, "in the old day, maybe we got spanked. but there was a differen quarrel. You don't spank children". Rosalina Gonzales had pleaded quilty to a felony charge of injury to a child for what prosecurtor had described as a "pretty simple, straightforward spanking case". They noted she didn't use a belt or leave any bruises. just some red marks As part of the plea deal, Gonzales will serve five years probation, during which she'll have to take parenting classes, follow CPS guidelines, and make a $50.00 payment to the Children's Advocacy Center. She was arrested back in December after the child's paternal grandmother notice red marks on the child's rear end. The grandmother took the girl, who was two years-old at the time, to the hospital to be checked out. Gonzaless who doesn't have custody of the child or her other two children, is trying to get them back but until CPS feels she is ready the kids are living with their paternal grandmother. Felon Child Abuse?? Prosecution says that it was straight forward spanking Really? why then was she charged as a felony? Another family distroyed by CPS,and the couts after blood money which is given to the Children's Advocacy Center which depends on both the Courts and CPS to black market The American Children of today. I feel really sorry for this Mom. She was immulating how her parents raised her and gets all this grief. I'm not for child abuse but I am definitely for disciplining your children and red marks is absolutely NOTHING to end up with five years probation and a ridiculous fine. But the real tragedy is that she lost her children whom I'm sure she loves very much. This generation with their so called 'time-outs' --- as wonderful Dr. Phil says, ..."So.. how's that working out for ya!#@!#!@#$!@"... I was raised in rural Missouri and in today's standards of not allowing any type whatsoever of strict discipline to our kids, 99% of all the parents I knew in school would all have their children in foster care! Heck, in my day, if my NEIGHBOR saw me get out of line, it was nothing to get a 'whack' and a call to my Mother... Our society is what we allow it to be... there's absolute NO RESPECT to parents these days like it used to be... ...just sayin... |

Tawandaaaa User ID: 1328412 United States 08/19/2011 06:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My parents spanked, sometimes to the point of what would be considered abuse today. I spanked when mine was younger. Two is on the edge, though. I'm not sure spanking at that age really works as far as a punishment. But, to swat one when you catch them in the act at that age is fine, especially if it's something they are doing that could hurt them. So, depends on the situation. With a two year old, it's not the same as spanking as punishment for a bad report card or for skipping school with an older kid. At that age you have to catch them in the act and swat them right then so they can relate the two. Like I said, I did spank, but I'm not sure it was overly effective. Then again, she doesn't run wild. But, lazy, OMG......if I ever get her past being lazy, it will be a miracle. |

Alex A Madison User ID: 497893 United States 08/19/2011 06:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Should a woman have five years probation and be in the court system for this? Not as far as I can tell by any rational measure. But that doesn't excuse striking another person, no matter what she thought her reasoning was. In truth I would have cut her a lot more slack with a slightly older child, but what was a two year old doing that needed repeated blows to drive home? And why deliver a blow hard enough to leave red marks that would last until the grandmother got to a hospital? (Unless it was literally next door of course.) The fact is, as much as we all feel like laying in to people sometimes, violence is illegal except for in cases of self defense. Did the child have a knife? Of course not. Mom got angry and acted in what she thought was an alright fashion, but not understanding the law doesn't mean it won't be applied. DON'T BE A DUMB-ASS, READ A BOOK! Anonymous Coward User ID: 1509134 United States 08/19/2011 09:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | do you feel the judge went overboard? Quoting: childreninprisonsThe point of it all is to keep folks dependent. The parents are blamed for doing their idea of what's best, then held accountable when they are prevented from having proper authority. When the kids grow up out of control, the gov't can use a very heavy hand, since the kids don't have the discipline to fight back in a meaningful way. |
Alex A Madison User ID: 497893 United States 08/19/2011 09:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fuck that, some kids need their asses whooped! Some grownups too!! Quoting: BRIEFBe that as it may, it's generally not allowed. Violence doesn't help nearly as much as we like to pretend. It feels good, right and correct, but the results in the end are always negative. That goes for everyone involved too, not just the victim of the violence. Preforming violent acts weakens us as people. It should be something we try not to do, whenever possible. There may not always be another way, but most of the time there is, and we should seek it, no matter our current mood or feelings about the situation. DON'T BE A DUMB-ASS, READ A BOOK! I have raised three well behaved and intelligent boys, and I've not had to whip them more than once, each...from that point they realized they couldn't walk all over me and get away with whatever inappropriate behavior they set their young minds to, and they are fine people because of it. Quoting: Benevolent CannibalThey can take 100% credit for children the past 10 years. They made these flash mobs. They just blame the parents if the children do something bad. No, no, it's not the governments fault. Total BS. I'll beat the hell out of my children and they will be brilliant and honerable. I imagine George Washington was beat a lot.
