Thanx a lot! I was just thinking in Solaris, Stalislaw Lem masterpiece. Tarkovsky or Soderbergh? Well, yourself (I prefer the russian one)

Really, I think that Tarkovsky's STALKER is somehow thematically linked with Solaris, is like a bit of Solaris arrived at Earth in THE ZONE

Wow, I didn't know about Stalker! I'll add it to my watch list ;-)

Although not very old, this movie is hands down one of my all time favorites.

Probably one of the most darkest, depressing and realistinc post apocalyptic doom movie I've ever seen. Its all on youtube so here it is in three parts.

The world after the nuclear apocalypse. Pale light lits the scenery of total destruction. The surviving humans vegetate in wet cellars under the nuclear winter. But somehow human spirit still sees somewhere the dim light of a new and better future. The next generation starts the walk towards a new life.

Thanx for this jewel, a MUST-SEE. Russian Scifi has some gems in storage. By the way, it is a pity that Stanislaw Lem's "Memoirs found in a Bathtube" is not still adapted in a movie, it is a big stuff!

Excellent film, I only found out recently that Stanley Kubrick started out directing this but passed it on to Spielberg, I would have loved to see his vision of this story.
