I did read what I found via Google, but it flies over my head.. and that's saying a lot considering some of the shit I read from here. My question is, why is he warning against reading it or practicing it?

Kabbalah is just witchcraft. Maybe that's why they warned you against practicing it. But resting at specified periods is written in the Original Testament. During those times, the Israelites were instructed to be at the Temple to receive spiritual instruction. Kind of like when Gentiles go to their church on any given Sunday, which is a practice they copied from the Original Testament from when the ancient Israelites went to the Temple on New Moon and Shabuwah (seventh day of rest)which is NOT called sabbath (as they changed it to) it is called shabuwah, which means in Hebrew: period of seven or: week (7th day).

The Sepher Yezirah is the central text of the Kabbalah, in which the doctrine of the 'mother letters' is expounded, and the associations between the other letters and the 'tree of life' are exposited.
