It's El Nina that's kicking off another stretch of freak weather, so like, texas will have more drought, the east coast will have more flooding, and more of the same in other parts of the world

It is called a cold front.

The weather has always been weird & unpredictable, but it has never been as extreme - in a sense of record highs, lows etc. - as it has been in the last decade.

Just to show that this is really wortwhile to watch...

You really think our summer was that bad? I thought it was a pretty decent Dutch summer to be honest.

It was pretty decent in June, but July & August were absolutely horrible.

Mind you, two months in a row, with hardly a day without rain, let alone a dry & sunny period of 4 or 5 days in a row.

On the other hand, 2008 was the best summer in a 100 years.

The thing is that we're constantly seeing extremely dry, wet, cold etc. months, year after year, in the past ten years, which is very unusual.

I agree to some degree. We broke a lot of records in the past ten years. It also has been getting warmer over the last century, so in my mind it isn't weird that we are seeing weather that is 'different'. I mean it's not snowing or something.

They used to call us 'kouwe kikkerlandje' not that long ago, remember?

But anyway, let's agree to disagree on this for a moment. What do you believe is the cause of this?

NorCal here and we're expected to hit 100 today. Considering it's almost October, this is insane. This heat has not let up for weeks... months. Ugh.

The meteor at the end. There was one very similar above Dunedin, NZ three days after that one.
