I live near this area in va this sinkhole is not the first infact there have been tons of sinkholes here in recent years, as well as maybe less then a year ago a high amount of methane was found and people had to leave there homes for a week. The area where the high amount of methane was pretty close to the area where the sinkholes are. The cause of the methane was ruled out as "natural" and that was the end of that. On another note when our house was being built the builders told us that in Stafford there are areas where no bulidings should be built due to issues with the ground. A friend of mine who lives in the Austin Ridge area where the sinkhole is had to have his home reinforced last year because the whole house was slideing.
