OP, read the Eddas. The Havamal is a good start. I have it all almost memorised. You can read all norse materials for free on the internet. Try sacredtexts. The Ragnarok is the heavenly battle that rips the sky a nd earth apart. Some theorize that it's a future event, others theorize it's already happened, and we are living in the time after.

Re: just watched the film THOR ... Got some questions
Nearly every religion that has Higher Powers (plural) has a war going on in heaven between the Gods.

The Norse, who believed in Loki, Thor, Odin, et al, also had an end time prophecy, calling their end time Ragnarok. [link to community.beliefnet.com] makes for an interesting read.

Earth as a battlefield for the gods is not a new concept. It has arisen time and time again. Most notably is the Hindi Vedic which tells of flying machines (UFO?) and a device that sounds very much like an atomic bomb going off.

I suspect, this my own personal belief, that we are not the first advanced civilization of humans on earth. Given that in 10 thousand years every trace of our civilization could be wiped off the face of the map by natural everyday processes, decay and erosion, then a war on earth between two or more nations with powerful weapons, reducing the major cities to rubble would only hasten the process to hide all evidence of our civilization.

Any survivors would tell tales of what it was like in the 'good old days' such as the magic mirror that people looked into to see events around the world (TV), or the magic bone they held to their ear and talked into to speak to people many moons journey away (the telephone).

Our technology is godlike in its power and abilities. Take any of it back just 500 years and you would be considered at the very least a witch. Take it further back in time and you would be viewed as a god.

It is, due to the universality of the notion that the gods made a war here on earth, possible that we, humanity, were the gods and have forgotten much of our old abilities and are only know relearning all that we forgot.

there is alot of truth to it.. but alot of disinfo in it also to throw you off track..

where do you think all of these movie directors get all of their great ideas from? the reason we watch most of these movies and most of the movies that have been blockbusters in the past have always been 50% truth and 50% lies

i think there is alot of truth in the last transformers movie too..
