Can somebody tell me how the moon could be in front of clouds???

One more question. I could see every little detail of the surface. I understand that it's bright enough to shine through the clouds but how is it that it was like I was actually staring at the moon itself? I was not just seeing the light of the moon, I was seeing the actual surface with the clouds behind it.

Hey OP, I believe you. Spooky pics! If some people would pay attention themselves, instead of just calling people morons, they might learn something. I can see from the pics that it's not just the light from the moon. Wonder if this has anything to do with the ISS camera being turned off, if it still is?

Wow, did you see what I posted above about the clouds in space? Somebody needs to start another thread using OP's pics and your video. Where are you located? When did you take that video? I thought at first it was probably just the light from the moon too but after I read OP describe seeing the details of the moon, I decided to check it out myself. That's a great video! I do wonder if that's why the ISS cameras are down.

Those pics are creepy! I know that you can't see the details of the moon but you can tell it's the actual moon and not the light. I've never seen clouds like that either.

once when i was a teen and on a hallucinogen, it took me a very long time to register what the moon was...... i thought for the longest time that it was a huge water tank that had a woman's face painted on it and a light projected on it.....

Look into "false moon ufo" or "false crescent moon."

Myself and many others have seen what can only be a gigantic false moon doing some spectacular things. Many reports are available online but you have to search for them, they aren't easy to find.

Thank you! Once again, somebody that checked it out instead of assuming drugs or stupidity. I could not find anymore pics like mine but the video above was great. I would like to hear what Astro and others have to say about it. If the clouds were visible in Oregon last year, we could probably see them here in East Tennessee now. Why would they not fix the camera on the ISS? It has never been off this long and you can still hear it running, just black screen. Any NASA people on here care to comment? you do realize that clouds are basically water and dirt, correct? This is how you can see through them. every one of those pics that I saw had the moon shining through the clouds. Also, thin clouds that occur close to the ground tend to screw with a person's depth perception. as the clouds pass by the moon, the light from the moon is brighter than the cloud, so it looks as if the cloud is behind the moon, being blocked out by the moon, but it's just the light being too bright to be able to see the cloud

The first video was taken in October of 2010, and the second video was taken the same month it was uploaded, not sure when that was but you can check by clicking on the vid. I see this all the time. If you watch the moon for long enough on any given night when it is visible, you will most definitely see it pass in front of clouds. It used to be an OMG thing for me, but now I see it every month and I just roll my eyes at its fakeness.

As I said earlier, yes I know that the moon shines through the clouds, however, this was not the case. The pics are bad. They do not show what I saw. The pics do look like the light of the moon was shining through the clouds. The moon was actually in front of the clouds. There was nothing in front of the moon until it passed behind a cloud and I took pics of that too. Those pics are on the second row. I could see the details of the moon, craters and all. I know it sounds crazy and many think I'm an idiot but I would have not said a word if I was not sure of what I was seeing. I don't understand why so many find this hard to believe now since the article from NASA was posted. If I recall correctly the article was from 2008. They said that the clouds were visible from northern states in 2010. Please see post from AC above. They provided a link.

I believe that things are just going to get more strange from here. I also believe that we are going to see things in the sky that we have never seen before and can't explain. I think everyone should keep an open-mind and not insult people when they report things. I don't know about everyone else but I would like to hear about these things. Wow, finally caught on, it's a projection. I even have photos showing the beams of light going to the light source and the overlay of the holographic image. I had to see it for myself to believe it. My photos from last night's moon rise again, showed clouds behind it. It looked really fake, I was commenting on it. It's like a round night-light, and too close, too big, too bright. Unless someone else has another explanation. Call me a moon-tard, don't care, it just has looked odd like that most of the year. I even noticed one night in late spring, as it rose, it looked so close, like a hot air balloon would look, and as I drove toward the coast, it seriously looked closer to me and bigger. Freaky.

Me too< some of them you could see go in front of the moon while at the same time there were others behind the moon. Weird for sure.

like they are going behind the moon is because
the exposure on the camera is to high. Lower the
Exposure and you will see the white clouds go in
front of a dark moon. The clouds are in fact going in
front of the moon the whole time.

the clouds aren't very thick. those are cirrus clouds and they're about 30,000 feet up, thin sheets of ice.
