Who are the 1% ? | |

It's actually close to a half. What percentage of the remaining half have teenagers who just use their cars, or husbands and wives who share one vehicle? What percentage live in major cities where they all use public transportation because having a car makes no sense. (very few people who live in cities like New York own cars) As far as the U.S. - You couldn't convince a single person in this country that only 9% of the people here own a car. I would think the average person, if asked, would put that number more at around 90% just from personal life observation. (Unless you grew up in the the most desolate spot in the country...and you were also blind) There are plenty of reasonable arguments against the OWS protestors. This..just isn't one of them. Compliment me with something my father would laugh at and my mother would believe. A country can't rise higher than the morality of it's women. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 4247774 United States 10/29/2011 03:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | well lets start with trackable items of material wealth. Automobiles. There are about 600 Million automobiles in the world today. If we assume a global population of 10 Billion (to keep the math simple) than at best you would be in the top 9% to have a car. Really even higher than that if you remove work vehicles and company cars from this number. Quoting: amplified2 So if you drive to a event to hold your 99% sign... you look a little silly scared shitless of the 99 |

If you know their name, they are not the 1%. I don't even care if you think Soros and Buffet are the 1%...they are the puppets of the 1%. The Rothschilds may be at the fringe of the 1%, but again, I think they too are puppets. The 13 Bloodlines, names you do not know are the 1%. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1068718 Netherlands 10/29/2011 08:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can make a case that WE are the 1%. If you look on a global scale, the middle class and rich in northern Europe and America have been the 1% for a long time. We all benefit from labour that gets paid less than a few dollars a day. Or from a foreign countries resources they themselves only profit little from. We are guilty for enjoying products and wealth that clearly was made or gotten by underpaying or doing things in a cheap destructive way. It is the system we were born into, but despite problems and shit, we are the worlds 1%. That's ofcourse why the right is so upset about OWS. Their corporate views makes them wanna keep being selfish and block looking morally at how to create prosperity. They actually always try hard to make being selfish a morally good thing (good capitalist, provide wealth, jobs and products) and sharing a destructive and even murdering thing (communism killed millions upon millions, depopulation). |
