Breaking: MICEX EXCHANGE HALTS STOCK TRADING

Russia's Micex Stock Exchange halted trading at 1205 GMT because of a technical issue, an exchange spokesman said Tuesday.

The issue is being looked into, but it is unclear when trading will resume, he said.

The Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) is one of the largest universal stock exchanges in the Russian Federation and East Europe. The MICEX is the leading Russian stock exchange. About 239 Russian companies are listed on the MICEX and about 550 participating organizations and members which trade for their clients.

Shares traded on the MICEX represent more than 90% of the total turnover of the leading stock exchanges in the Russian stock market.

It looks like trading was halted between 14:00 and nearly 18:00.

The ISSUE is that TECHNICALLY everything is WORTHLESS. No big deal.

Ruble slumps vs dollar over euro debt worries

The Russian ruble slumped 41 kopecks to the dollar to 30.57 and 10 kopecks to the euro to 42.28 in early MICEX trade on Tuesday on increased worries about the ability of European authorities to tackle the euro debt crisis.

LOL, Australia had a 'technical issue' the morning before nearly all exchanges around the world had that crazy rally last week.

I suspect 'technical issue' is somehow related to 'money laundering' or someone VERY rich and politically connected getting out of some awkward trading positions.
