You are no longer "pack leader" and so it is reverting to its wild animal instinct OR If it is a bitch, it is either pregnant OR having a phantom pregnancy. I have only had this happen once. I had a bitch with a phantom pregnancy. She made a nest in my wardrobe (closet) and used to hide food in a hole in the garden. Does any of this ring a bell ?? Hope I can help. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3579277 And he doesn't want to upset you, or offend your feelings! If he is burying food, you are feeding him too much. Starve a day and then hand feed him. Break the habit now. Otherwise I would say "WOW hes got you trained for sure!" (kindly meant) |

Maybe he can't chew hard food anymore as a meal and is hiding it like a bone to gnaw on later. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2394678 He had his teeth cleaned in August and I treat them daily with doogie enzyme tooth paste and I havent noticed anything.. thinking about going to the vet now as this behavior is just odd ... hoping its not a physical issue causing this. “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” Oscar Wilde |

Our neighbors directly behind us just got a new puppy ... our lawns are seperated by privacy fencing but I often see my dog sniffing around back there ... They may have told you a certain amount as a guideline, BUT your dog is telling you different! When a dog is hungry it will eat until it vomits. I reckon with your pooch cut it down a little until this behaviour stops. A point to note is that "they" gave you an amount. Did they really feed him the same ???? Anyways, your dog has some anxiety over food, I would suggest taking a bit more controlv until he TRUSTS YOU |
