My take-----------------let him coach the five games or so he has left.
While Paterno definitely should have done more, as he himself says in his statement, he DID report this. He should have gone to the police, though. Nobody denies that. His greatest failing was letting the men he coached for so many decades down (in that he did not live up to the standard he himself set), but he is NOT the jerk a few are making him out to be.
But what about Pres. Stanier? He was above EVERYBODY. Of course he knew. Yet he did DIDLY. Good thing he s resigning. Why are people seemingly pinning this on Paterno, though?
I don't get.
Thank you for your consideration.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1419389 every single one of THEM that had knowledge of little boys being raped should be hauled in and the proper charges filed. what a horrific story. ....paternO reported it ? to whom ? what was their damn problem ? WHAT KIND OF MAN LETS THIS CONTINUE ? YEAH........big strong male football players/coach-- let little boys be raped. these are NOT MEN. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1169966 Really, he KNEW what was happening? I'd love to know where you read this, because it sure could help the case. He was told something (nobody knows what exactly, yet) second hand and passed it up the chain of command like he was supposed to do. Why is no one condemning the grad student who actually WITNESSED abuse. He could have called the police and ended it all right there. I'm sick of these reactionary retards pinning this on Paterno because it's the only recognizable name. Half of these fucks have obviously not done the due diligence on the case. They see the name Paterno and child abuse and they lose their minds. He should be able to finish out the year and then he should be gone.
