Well, I am truly understand the need for cultural traditions, and in man rites of passages....but this one just seems downright stupid! RAWR< I AM A MAN I STABBED A DOLPHIN! How silly is that?

To be honest, standing up for the right for certain type of animal is type of racism or animalism.
You all eat animal protein. No animals wants to die.
Why stand up only for dolphins and whales?
Where is the right for other animals like chicken and etc??

Let's face it, we live as barbarians.
Even if you are vegetarian, you might have an iphone which was built in a factory in China by a Chinese mother who has to feed their kids and is really poor.

This reality is barbaric and is about taking others life for your own.

1 agree it is kind of hypocritical to just stand up for certain types of animal. What upsets many, is the way humans kill whales and dolphins. The killing is very slow. The animal suffer for hours, before it finaly, exhaustiated, collapses into death.

Most chicken and cows suffer their whole life, from birth to death. That don't upset humans as much.

The humans of China are being used as slaves to produce goods to make other humans and reptiles feel rich. The production is destroying planet Earth, but 99% are fine with that. The cruelty the chinese are experiencing from other humans, they pass along to animals and Earth.

1 don't think human are fully aware on how their behaviour alter other life.

Yes, I know what you mean. However, nobody can be expected to achieve everything all at once, it just is not realistic.

Step-by-step.

Meanwhile, hundreds of innocent children in the Middle East are being killed by American troops in a war created by TPTB. But do people care about them? No. We choose to care about the poor animals instead. Like the sick people in the silly organization PETA. In fact, South Park made a hilarious parody about PETA. Haven't laughed so hard in my life.

Faroe Islands (Faroese: Føroyar, Danish: Færøerne Danish pronunciation: [ˈfæɐ̯øːˀɐnə]) are an island group situated between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately halfway between Scotland and Iceland. The Faroe Islands are a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, along with Denmark proper and Greenland. The total area is approximately 1,400 km² (540 sq mi) with a 2010 population of almost 50,000

Faroe Islands - the passage to manhood, what do they do to celebrate this wonderful mark?

They stab, a number of times, Calderon Dolphins, this is how they celebrate their passage to manhood. The dolphins end up dying, most probably in excrutiating agony.

The dolphins end up bleeding to death and the whole town watches.

There is no room in this world for cruelty, there is always another way.

IT REALLY IS NOT NECESSARY.

Interesting how this site has a petition to stop the slaughter of dolphins, yet they think NOTHING of having a petition to also STOP a fundraiser that supports a group that is trying to keep BABIES from being murdered in and partially out of the womb.

This isn't about YOU and I am glad there isn't name calling and shit.

Stick to the subject, that's how threads go all over the place on here.

ok, what is the difference between eating beef and a whale?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 938673

Nothing.

This thread is not about Japan or anywhere else, this thread is about Faroe Islands' practice with the dolphins.
Quoting: Lotus Flower

So what. If they are eating the dolphins, then I say have at it. As long as they are not leaving it to rot then great. Dolphins are probably highly nutritious.

What I would like to point out also, is that the author of the article refers to dolphins as both helpless, and innocent. Dolphins are intelligent, fast, powerful creatures that are far from helpless.

Further, she says: "Never, ever, killing an other creature, another living being, with whom we share this world, has done any good, to anyone. So let's stop it."

This is a person who is so out of touch with reality that she has literally zero comprehension of how important animals have been to humanity's survival for the last 10 million years or so. It is only with the recent advances in technology that we are able to have the tremendous amount of food variety and distribution that we have today.

Why can we not care about ALL? Why does it have to be just one thing? Why can we not love all?

Answer, we can.

Unfortunately, we can only DO one thing at a time, because we only have one pair of hands.

This does not mean, however, we all have to DO all the same thing, we can spread ourselves out, far and wide and cover it all.

Then start a thread regarding that.

Unfortunately I can only do one thing at a time. This time, it was the dolphins.

If I had done what you have just requested, another person would have come on here and asked why your subject, why not the dolphins or the bear bile factories or the whaling......

As I just stated, one thing at a time, other people can do their own causes too, I am not stopping them lol.

Start a thread regarding that then.

Why does one thread have to cover all? GLP allows all subjects you know and you are quite within your rights to start such a thread on that subject.

Again, it is the way they are killed. In fact, it is the way anything is killed in such a fashion.

In this day and age, barbaric methods of kill should not even be needed anymore.

There really is no place in this world for cruelty, whether it be to people OR animals.

Humans are supposed to be spiritual beings, this is what sets us apart from the animal kingdom, therefore, perhaps we should start acting in a more spiritual manner.
