The Hebrew god, who goes by many nom de plumes in the Bible, is most readily identified with the Semitic god ISH-KUR, who was a mountaintop / thunder god. Jesus is an amalgam of at least two historical figures.

Thanksgiving is not a Christian holiday - it is entirely secular.

What's your point? President Washington lived in a less enlightened age. I'm sure he also believed that the stars were placed on crystal spheres and that meteors were a weather phenomenon. I see that President Obama also didn't mention Allah, Shiva, Buddha or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Read the Treaty of Tripoli. It is not the responsibility of the government to push a religion. Did he say anything in the speech that no one else should believe in a god? No. He simply omitted something that can't be proven.
