FBI creating terrorism plots to scare Americans

Last Wednesday, a 21-year-old Bangladeshi national, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, was arrested and accused of traveling to the U.S. to establish an al Qaeda cell and bomb the Federal Reserve Bank in Lower Manhattan.

Buried beneath the headlines and opening paragraphs of the major news outlet reports, however, is the fact that Nafis would have been unable to execute his plot without substantial assistance from the F.B.I.. Authorities assured several news agencies that “the public was never in danger.”

This case is yet another instance, among hundreds, of federal agencies creating terrorist plots so they can take credit for stopping them, instill fear in Americans and justify the billions of taxpayer dollars spent on wars and “homeland security.” This practice earned the number four rank on the list of the 2012 Project Censored most underreported stories in the U.S. media.

Police Commit Assault, Tresspassing and Kidnapping in the Name of Public Safety

In the UK, Michael Doherty, a former aircraft engineer, is suing the Metropolitan Police for breaking and entering, assault and battery, and kidnapping. Doherty was forcibly taken into police custody on suspicion of harassment without probable cause for the crime.

A district court judge agreed to allow Doherty to bring charges against the police in West London for their blatant disregard for the law. After a bogus internal investigation, Doherty filed charges against the officers in question.

Two men in plain clothes claiming to be police officers came to the victim’s door. Doherty refused to allow the police into his residence when they demanded he open the door. This prompted the use of violent force by the police and the reason for Doherty’s counter claim.

Top cop lays out plan to prevent recording of police actions - Interior Ministry denies reform will impinge on right to information but judges question legality of preventing citizens from recording security forces

The director general of police, Ignacio Cosidó, announced on Thursday that the authorities are studying the possibility that the next update to the Public Security Law could include an article prohibiting the recording, processing or circulation on the internet of police officers performing their duties, if doing so would endanger them or the operation in which they were engaged.

The police chief said the reform to the Public Security Law, which is being studied by the Interior Ministry, would seek to “strike a balance between the protection of the rights of citizens and those of members of the security forces. Only in recognition of the immense labor of the security forces are we able to progress toward achieving a more just, safer and peaceful society.”

Last week, at a European Council Summit in Brussels, Germany, the centralization of financial power was established. All banks, except for the Technocratically–controlled European Central Bank will be under central regulation of a joint control mechanism by 2014.

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, explained that caution for the success of the encompassing merger of financial institutions must be observed. “Concerning the move towards banking supervision, we have decided to move forward with the principle that quality is more important than rapidity. This means we will not have a working banking supervision at the beginning of 2013.”

Merkel wants to lay out an international legal framework that created a single supervisory mechanism (SSM) to justify this new system of controlling fiat distribution and acquisition for the purpose of regulating capital and liquidity with the Technocrats overseeing compliance for more than 6,000 banks in the Euro Zone.

I honestly don’t think it matters who wins the election. Like all elections in the modern era, real choices are never provided. The politicians and the media concentrate on “faux issues” designed to create the appearance of an intense debate, meanwhile the pressing issues of our times are decided by connected elites behind closed doors. On these issues, the politicians are in complete agreement. The system is rigged to ensure that only corporate tools can rise to the level of “Actor in Chief.”

Take any issue of substance. Try to spot the difference of opinion between Obama and Romney: trade policy, the unaccountable Federal Reserve, the gulag prison system, the war on drugs, military spending, NSA surveillance, the destruction of civil liberties, banking regulations, gerrymandering, the role of international banking institutions like the World Bank and the IMF, Israel, energy policy, the wars, drone strikes…the list goes on I can assure you.

If you’re an intellectually enslaved partisan, you’re already probably grasping at straws, trying to justify your position choosing the “lesser of two evils.” The differences between the two parties on these issues is barely visible, and yet we somehow feel justified picking sides. Even judicial appointments, the final plea for party unity, has lost its credibility. They are not looking out for you.

Technocratic Control Over Greek Gold is Reason For Destruction of Economy

Last week, gold fell below $1,700 an ounce. This prompted caution in the metals markets as the Federal Reserve Bank continues its purchases of the mortgage-backed securities. The mainstream media touts this act as an attempt to stimulate the American economy; however, it is nothing less than a land-grab by the technocrats.

Overseas, Germany’s central bank has neglected to audit the country’s estimated 3,400 tons of gold reserves. This resource would be desirable to the technocrats at this critical time – when they are endeavoring to implode fiat currencies in the Euro Zone. Those gold stores are in the hands of the Federal Reserve headed by Ben Bernanke.

It is supposed that the same 3,400 tons of gold (valued at an estimated $190 billion) is currently in the possession of the central bankers in the US, France and England; assuming that this gold is the same gold that was stored at the end of the Cold War.

DHS-FBI bulletin on suspicious behavior at hotels adds to already long list of terrorism indicators

According to the United States government, just about every single thing one can do is an indicator of terrorism. Everything from complaining about bias and believing in government conspiracies to ordinary bodily movements to bumper stickers to traveling long distances can be considered an indicator of terrorist activity.

That list can be expanded even further thanks to a joint Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) bulletin dated July 26, 2010 (PDF courtesy of Public Intelligence).

According to the bulletin, there are a wide range of activities and behaviors that can be construed to be an indicator of terrorist activity, many of which are completely innocuous.

Most of the supposedly suspicious behaviors surround privacy, such as “Not providing professional or personal details on hotel registrations — such as place of employment, contact information, or place of residence.”

According to the FBI and DHS, “Refusal of housekeeping services for extended periods” is suspicious, along with “extended stays with little baggage or unpacked luggage.”

The lack of enthusiasm for the latest effort to centralize all banking and monitory regulation within the European Central Bank suggests that the surreal struggle for continental unanimity still resides in the minds of banksters. Germany Enforces Same Austerity that Paved Way to 3rd Reich

One in four people are now officially out of work in Spain as unemployment in the debt-ridden country reaches another record. The grim news comes as Madrid's transport workers go on strike, adding to a sixth day of protests in the capital against austerity cuts.

That's as another epicentre of the EU crisis - Greece - looks likely to miss its promised deficit deadline. The forecast from the International Monetary Fund's debt inspectors comes a year after EU leaders applauded what they considered a key deal to save Athens.

American-led Western Societies are Waging War on Humanity

Imperial war is a way of life. Social democracies are being eliminated. Freedom is on the chopping block to be crushed. Elections are meaningless and farcical. America’s are the worst. They mock legitimacy. Money power controls them. It runs the country and most societies. People have no say. They’re ill-served and stomped on by governments in bed with corporatist rogues.

The Media serve wealth and power interests. Managed news misinformation is featured. Former Wall Street Journal writer Greg Jaffe now writes on military issues for the Washington Post.

His latest article calls the world “safer.” Measured by most relevant statistics, he says, America and the world “have never been safer.”

No legitimate journalist would claim it. No respectable editor would publish it. At a time Western nations wage permanent war, crack down repressively against dissent, and inflict unprincipled hardships on people, Jaffe claims “global statistics point undeniably toward progress in achieving greater peace and stability.”

He credits massive military spending. He advocates “peace through strength.” He wants more of the same at a time America spends more than the rest of the world combined.

Unprincipled amounts devoted to foreign and domestic militarism make everyone less safe. Humanity may be destroyed to save it. Nuclear war is possible.

The Middle East cauldron could erupt in mushroom-shaped cloud destruction. Nuclear winter could follow. When America and other nuclear powers consider these type weapons king-sized hand grenades, the worst of all outcomes is possible.

When war is a way of life, bad endings happen. Priority one is preventing it. Militarists are power hungry rogues. They’re amoral, unethical, deceitful, and manipulative. They breach social and legal standards.

They never say they’re sorry. They’re callously unconcerned about others. They’re indifferent to human suffering. They’re sociopaths. They’re clinically insane. They threaten humanity.

Bertram Russell once explained two options. Either we renounce war and live in peace or end the human race. There’s no in between. Survival depends on ending global militarism and belligerence before it’s too late.

The Police Drones which are Watching You - Drone Propaganda Site Pops Up Just In Time For Obama's Second Term

Drones (and their corresponding strikes) don’t have the best public face, especially since the wars are winding down and they’ve starting coming home to roost.

It’s not just Obama who’s expanding (and will continue to expand) their deployment. Law enforcement agencies, the CIA, the Department of Homeland Security and even journalists are all seeking to use, and potentially abuse, unmanned robotic vehicles.

So with timing that couldn’t be any more perfect, Talking Points Memo reports that a new website dedicated to telling positive drone stories popped up in the days leading up to Obama’s re-election. Not that the two are somehow directly related, but it’s worth noting that the man who simultaneously quadrupled flying robot use abroad also authorized and encouraged their use domestically.

Now Americans don’t seem to mind drones in foreign countries, in fact they love the idea, but that love quickly goes south when drones cross into domestic territory.

Enter Increasing Human Potential, a website wholly dedicated to taking the edge off domestic drone use, its mission statement — “highlight the valuable and endless benefits of all unmanned systems and robotics.”

The site, TPM explains, was launched by the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, or AUVSI — which, oddly enough, runs a separate website for its 600-plus drone-involved corporate members.

Will Americans Be Stripped of Citizenship Based on Accusation?

In a recent op-ed published in Jurist, St. John's University School of Law student Christopher Elsee described a scenario he believes threatens the civil rights of his fellow citizens.

Writes Elsee: Imagine you have just written a check to an organization that sends mechanical engineering textbooks to students in Afghanistan or Iraq. Now further imagine that you have been engaged in this practice for well over a decade because you are interested in helping individuals in developing countries to improve their technical knowledge, with the hopes of enabling them to better themselves. Are you supporting terrorists? According to a proposed piece of legislation, you may very well be.

The legislation Elsee mentions is the Terrorist Expatriation Act. This bill, proposed in 2010 by Senator Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), would strip any American accused of terrorism of his citizenship. This would place the suspect outside of the jurisdiction of the U.S. Constitution's Article III courts and assign the trial on his alleged crimes to a military tribunal.

As Elsee explains: The act adds offenses such as providing material support to foreign terrorist organizations, engaging in or purposefully and materially supporting hostilities against the US or any country engaged in hostilities alongside the US or providing direct operational support to the US. Another section of the act explains that "material support or resources" means, among other things as the list goes on, property, services, training, expert advice or assistance, communications equipment and facilities.

This illustrates why the person in Elsee’s hypothetical would face expatriation.

A central point of the act not specifically addressed in Elsee’s article is the provision specifying the burden of proof in a case brought under its authority.

Under the Terrorist Expatriation Act, anyone stripped of his citizenship could appeal his expatriation to a federal court, where the federal government would have to demonstrate by "a preponderance of the evidence" that the accused committed the offense with the purpose of relinquishing his citizenship.

Today, we live in a world that turns people into almost instant global brand identities for mass marketing and lavishes them with untold fame and riches. Celebrities lead lives that most ordinary folk could not even begin to imagine. The outcome, however, has sinister implications not only for those coping with fame and playing out the illusion, but also for those who buy into celebrity worship and the aspirant mindset that surrounds the phenomenon.

Craving fame and wealth has become the blind faith of the age. TV programmes like ‘X Factor’ and ‘Indian Idol’ are based on the falsehood that this is what the masses should aspire to become, as they drool over a fast food smorgasbord of here-today-gone-tomorrow commodity forms (of which ‘celebrity’ is but one) to be glorified then spat out when considered obsolete. It’s an obsession built on crazes that have little resilience in a world of media-induced, corporate-backed fabrications and fickle idolisation.

While acquiring celebrity status may be a somewhat liberating experience for those who emerge into the limelight from lives of poverty and hardship, the crass fetishisation of wealth and wannabe celebritydom coupled with a pervasive cult of excessive individualism is socially divisive.

The elite want to tightly control almost everything that we do, say and think. When most people think of "tyranny", they think of thugs with guns and little dictators running around barking orders at everyone. But that is not how the elite are accomplishing their goals these days. They want us to actually believe that we have freedom and that we are choosing our own leaders, but in the background they are exerting "soft power" in a way that is absolutely ruthless.

They fund the political campaigns of our politicians, they own nearly all of the large corporations and financial institutions, they exert very tight control over the media and their agenda is being promoted through the education systems of virtually every nation on the planet. What the elite are doing is not illegal. In fact, they use the government and they use the law to accomplish their purposes. That is one reason why the elite love big government. For them, it is an instrument of control. The larger the government is, the easier it is to watch, track, monitor and control the rest of us.

As you read this, a "total domination control grid" is being constructed all around us that is far beyond anything that George Orwell ever dreamed of. This system is advancing on hundreds of different fronts, and it is getting tighter and more restrictive with each passing day. We may think that we still have a certain degree of liberty, but if you start doing things that the system does not like, the system has a way of getting you back in line very quickly. In the end, it is all about control.

The Fascist Programmers

Last column I asserted that the global Money Power controls people nowadays through psychological warfare. Put simply, they lie to people. As long as enough “sheeple” believe the lie, they can then be counted on to police the thoughts of any dissenters. This is a much easier control mechanism than the open violence that had marked the Money Power’s rule from the Dark Ages up until quite recently.

Last column I pinpointed one of their biggest lies: the might is right dominance paradigm, which portrays nature as a violent and dangerous place, a dog eat dog world where capitalism, colonialism, warfare and even slavery are “necessary evils”. This despite 100,000 years of relatively peaceful human existence which proves otherwise.

So what are the real life implications of this “programming” of Western industrial man, largely through mass media talk radio and television?

First, and most importantly, you get a population that fears and loathes nature. If nature is such a brutish place then it must be alright to regularly subdue and destroy it. Since humans are a part of nature, we are implicitly taught to hate ourselves. Here organized religion plays a huge role, supplanting a timeless nature-based spirituality based on scientific inference with a fear/guilt/shame-based top-down belief system which replicates the Money Power-imposed monopoly capitalist order. While there have been occasional skirmishes between the Money Power and the Church throughout their relatively brief existence, they are essentially two sides of the same Rothschild-minted coin.

Louis: Doug, after conversations like the one we had last week, we often get letters from angry readers who accuse you of hating America, disloyalty, and perhaps even treason. These people don't know or understand what I do about you – that you love the idea that was America. It's the United State it has become for which you have nothing but contempt. Perhaps we should try to explain this to them?

Doug: I doubt it would work; it's a tough row to hoe, trying to explain things to people who are so set in their thinking that they truly and literally don't want to hear anything that might threaten their notions. A person who feels threatened by ideas and who responds with emotion is acting irrationally. How can we have a discussion with someone whose emotion trumps their reason? How do we even begin to untangle the thinking of people who will gather this week to give thanks for the bounty produced by freedom and hard work – the famous puritan work ethic – by eating a turkey bought with food stamps?

But we can outline the ideas, for the record.

The Cashless Society is Almost Here – And With Some Very Sinister Implications

Among the long list of items bundled by consensus reality merchants under the banner of ‘conspiracy theory’, is a world without cash – where technocrats rule over the populace, and everything and anything is exchanged via plastic and RFID chips.

In this sterile and controlled Orwellian hi-tech society, the idea of cash being passed from hand to hand would be as archaic as the thought of carrying around a rucksack of tally sticks today.

Still, despite the incredible penetration of credit and debit card transactions into economic aggregate, and the boom in internet shopping, few will comfortably admit that a cashless society is nearly upon us. In part, it’s a natural denial by many fueled by the idea of our society is indeed on a collision course with the sort of dystopic impersonal future like that depicted in the 1970′s sci-fi film classic, ‘Logan’s Run’.

Arrest of Activist Artist Protesting Drones Highlights NYPD Surveillance Program

New York is now widely regarded as the pinnacle of the police state. The full-spectrum surveillance grid in place supposedly utilizes biometrics and a city-wide camera system that supplies real-time data to law enforcement. A physical militarized presence gives parts of the city the feel of an armed encampment consisting of 35,000 uniformed officers and 15,000 civilian employees - a combined force larger than the FBI.

The "ring of steel" is essentially a full-time counterterrorism operation on American soil that even has the ability to shoot down planes. A NYPD social media unit was set up to track pre-crime "criminal language" on Twitter and Facebook, as well as a stated commitment to developing pre-crime software in an agreement with Microsoft under a Domain Awareness System.

The intent seems to be to design a high-tech level of tracking and databasing all passersby under a guilty-until-proven-innocent framework. Certainly once drones are brought fully into American skies in 2015, it is reasonable to assume they will make an appearance over New York.

The Left in Government: A Strategic Project - Latin America and Europe Compared

To Be in Office, But Not in Power
The experiences from having had left political parties in government in Europe in the era of neoliberalism have not been very exciting, to put it mildly. The most recent experiences from such governments in France, Italy and – to a certain degree – also Norway have proved anything from negative to disastrous. In all these three countries right wing populist parties have been the biggest winners – with growing support, including in the working-class, and increasing influence on areas like immigration policies. This is particularly worth noting, since one of the arguments from parties on the left for entering into centre-left coalition governments has been to contain and isolate the radical right.

In analysing these experiences we have to look at external as well as internal factors. Externally, the balance of power between labour and capital is the most decisive factor. This power relationship has changed considerably in favour of capital during the neoliberal era since about 1980. Internally, it is the character of the party in question which is most important – its social roots, its analyses of the current situation, its strategies, its relationship with trade unions and social movements and its aims and perspectives. In this regard, the ideological and political crisis on the left has to be addressed.

Even though a detailed analysis will have to go deep into the concrete situation in each country, its history and traditions, its class formations and its social and political forces, I have chosen a more generalized approach in this paper. My discussion focuses on the initial conditions for left parties to enter into broader coalition governments. Based on the most recent experiences, I will try to develop some general, minimum conditions for government participation for parties on the left – at least as a starting point for further discussion.

Political Extremism in the Technocratic Order

The alleged bogey of “extremism” has become a prominent element of public discourse particularly since the mid-1990s. The assumed terroristic tendencies of ordinary Americans is a preoccupation of many mainstream and liberal intellectuals apparently more concerned with moral guardianship than the growing police state and continued wartime economy. These conditions underline a campaign to promote paranoia that only intensified following September 11, 2001. As the specter of deviant commoners helps validate accelerated repressive measures, the state’s genuine extremism of illegal wars and evisceration of most civil liberties falls from public purview.

The 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City Murrah Federal Building set the stage for the creation of an imaginary extremist other — “bitter clingers” in today’s parlance – purportedly emerging from a noxious combination of Bible study, country music, and gun collecting. Against this and similar “extreme” archetypes a normality is defined where the broader population is encouraged to confirm a tentative political identity and rationalize the support of intensified social control measures.

The often strange and misunderstood instances of probable state-sponsored terror — of which the Oklahoma City incident is the most well known and incontestable — alongside the prominence of well funded establishment-oriented quasi-intelligence and disinformation outlets such as the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League misleadingly conflate political thought, extremism and terror together in the public mind with dangerous implications for meaningful open debate and the preservation of important civil liberties.
