Anonymous Coward User ID: 1306067 United States 12/15/2011 10:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Simpson, a former U.S. Senator from Wyoming and a respected Republican, said the nightmare scenario will come to the U.S. sooner rather than later. Quoting: Maguyver “I’m saying that my guess is, that during this election year, during this next eleven months, there is going to be chaos in America,” Simpson said, adding that ten months, or this coming October, would be a good target date for the financial markets to pull the plug on America’s overspending. You can't continue to pile up trillions in debt forever. Congress just voted to designate the USA as a battlefield. It's hard to believe that people still don't get it...... People r too comfortable to revolt its probably the real reason for these programs. Quoting: wiede 6996187 THAT (or the removal of that)is one of the scenerios possible if the money is no longer available to fund those programs. When the US has a failed bond auction, the accounts will suddenly go to zero, then emergency conditions exist and the Fed will buy the treasuries, fill the accounts, the rest of the world will be running to exit the dollar, and inflate away we go, and commerce will come to a screeching halt. Obsolescence must be a painful way to die. Hmmm...where do I start? OK, consider this. The US is a Republic; a collection of mostly autonomous States. The course of the U.S.A is driven by the states, or should be given the way in which it was originally organized. The Federal Government should have very little to do with your individual existance. SO, yes, Wyoming is relevent, believe it or not. Would you allow New York City and the greater Orange County, CA residents determine the government oversight and intrusion foisted upon someone in rural Kansas? That's why we are not a Democracy or the people in Kansas really would be irrelevant. Do you want that? Second: Wow, how can you say the federal government it NOT overspending? If GDP grows at a WHOPPING 5%(that's considered a good number), wouldn't one suspect the spending would increase a similar ammount? But that's not the case, is it? OK, add inflation. 3% Truth is we are spending at an INCREASING rate of 20%, roughly. That is an unsustainable disconnect. Consider this, as well: In FY 2011, the interest on the debt was $454,000,000. That was paid at RECORD low interest rates. What is that number going to be in a few years when a few more trillion dollars are added AND interest rates get back to normal? How can you reconsile these numbers? What do you see as the outcome and how do we get there? BTW, in that article covering the speach to Trinity University, was give by Simpson AND Erskine Bowles...know who that is? It says in the article. NOT a Republican. Not at all. What say you? Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional. Do or do not. There is no try. Maguyver (OP) User ID: 808852 United States 12/16/2011 05:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From DEMOCRAT Erskine Bowles, exerpt from the article: “I think you’ll see the markets first begin to raise our cost of credit, because they will see more risk,’ and then if we don’t do anything about it, and continue the ostrich approach, with our heads in the sand, what they will do is cut the credit off,” warned Bowles, who was chief of staff for President Bill Clinton and a long time Democratic party activist. “You cut credit to this country, and, you talk about a recession, this will be a recession like you’ve never seen before.” Good to see this is a non-partisan issue. He's the guy who said when he wasn't running again that he was glad because he wouldn't have to listen to those stupid Wyoming cowboys anymore. (paraphrased from memory but worse than what I write) The elitist swine lives back east somewhere where his real constituency is. He also did the simpson-mazzoli act. Never underestimate the Fed and their ability to kick can down the road. Also, the EU issue will likely need to run most of it's course first, before really big troubles come stateside.
