Indians were NEVER settled in Buchanan County. The land is too steep and rocky for their likings. Indians were settled in the New River Valley, a 2 hour car trip north, and small bits south in the South Holsten Lake area. What is this about filing liens? Is it against federal government for land/mineral rights? So far from what I'm hearing in this intterview, this lady Angela was not coming clean with the charges/etc. However no reason for the diesel treatment, solitary confinemnent or any human rights violations. Parading suspects not proven guilty of anything around the middle of town, trashing the house, urinating and shitting in all the toilets and leaving it there -- That is pitiful and I hope all those agents are dealt with approriately. I know of West Virginias troubles. My husband works in McDowell County and what goes on over there is unmentionable... A lot of people don't own their mineral rights though. Most are shocked to find out they don't. My own deed says nothing about the mineral rights being sold, but I have found paperwork that my entire district was sold in the 1930's to what later became Jewell Smokeless, and then Suncoke Energy. There are only three families in Buchanan County that I'm aware of who still owned their mineral rights. The Shortridges sold out when their father died. My uncles land (not a GLP fable, you may look him up. His name is Earl Dellinger) is currently being leased to CNX gas, and her dad. It's a rabbit hole of problems. All of Virginia Court Case records are online and viewable by the public. Her nor her husband have any criminal or civil filings against them. Not even a traffic ticket. |

She moved back this way from Michigan to take care of her sick father. She was called and questioned by the Federal Government. The FIRST question they asked was "How much GOLD do you own?" They arrested both her and her husband. They threatened to put her children in Child Protective Services. Why does she believe this happend? Her father owns 80 acres of MINERAL RIGHTS on his own lands. Back in the early days, coal companies came through and bought mineral rights from poor Appalachain settlers for pennies. For a man to own his own mineral rights, is a true rarity here. Please share this with everyone you know!
