BREAKING: Foreign Observers To Join Iran's Naval Exercise In Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN (ISNA)-Observers from Iran's allies are to join the naval exercise underway in the Strait of Hormuz, southern Iran.

The drill's spokesman Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi said Monday foreign observers from Iranian allies and friendly countries are to watch rescue and surveillance operations and Iranian Navy's confrontation against pirates during the drill.

The naval drill also involves a parade on Tuesday attended by all units involved in the drill.

Wait and see. Next we'll have foreign advisers actually on Iranian ships that are performing maneuvers, and not merely watching from the sidelines. Then we'll have those foreign governments participating in the maneuvers and it's just a matter of time for one miscommunication to occur.

This kind of brinksmanship rarely goes well. The longer it occurs, the more mishaps will too.

Re: BREAKING: Foreign Observers To Join Iran's Naval Exercise In Strait of Hormuz
China is a net importer of oil. China will never let the iranians close the strait of Hormuz, that will be devastating for China directly, by production and transportation cost, and indirectly by the negative impact of the ecomomy of their customers (most of the world). And if the russians help the iranians in doing so, tensions will mount between China and Russia.

But again, the Russians are very hard to understand. It is not unlikely.

Iran can "control" the straits of Hormuz. All they have to do is act as a toll both. Sure they can allow oil destined for China through.
