As a teen in the early-mid nineties, done it more times than I can count. Some good, some bad, always memorable. Would I do it again as a 34 year old? Nope. Am I glad I tried it when I did? Definitely. Mushrooms are like the chill brother to acid. Acid is a whole different animal, they don't compare. Every one is different and even every trip is different for the same person.

Do do it with others who are doing it, too. Never take it and try to socialize with others who aren't doing it. You may not like what you see about people, even those you consider friends. Anyone who has ever taken it understands this concept. When you're trippin, you can instantly pick out who is and who isn't doing it, and when you're around others not doing it, they will seem very weird to you and you'll want to ditch that scene right away. Even if others are just drunk or stoned or even on E, just not the same. I guess you could do it alone, but I've never done that. I've come home still high and been by myself and that can be good or bad, depending.

Do understand that while mushroom high has a slower more gentle effect as it is starting, acid kicks in in about 15-30 minutes and it is weird your first time. You kind of forget that you took it and when it does kick in, you'll probably start laughing your ass off, not disimilar to shrooms. Everything starts seeming a little weird, distorted and you may/may not get the weird body buzz at this point, which seems like electricity in your body. Acid also lasts longer and causes much interference with sleep, even after you think it's worn off. Plan for a 7-10 hour trip with a peak in the middle. Don't let the term peak fool you, though, you'll still be high the whole time.

Do play music! Music makes it more fun. However, pick wisely. Downer stuff will make you feel down and depressed, uppity stuff the opposite. Hence, acid as a party/rave drug.

Do not plan on eating much while on acid. Food and just about everything else tastes weird, wrong, and your appetite will be weird for a day or two afterwards. Even if you can eat, you'll get acid belly and it just won't settle well.

Do make sure you are around good situations. It helps to be around others who have already taken it before. Acid isn't happy nature loving mushrooms. It can turn on you at any time, depending on your mood and environment. Even the outfit you chose for the night will affect you. I once went to a party (rave) with glitter disco boots on and I took a disco persona on for the night. Fun, yes,but weird.

Do not drive a car. It is weird. I was once day tripping at an outdoor concert and got in an old green car my friend was driving and I swear to god I thought I was riding on Gumby's shoulder. I was just a passenger. This was about an hour or two into it. It's even more distracting driving. BTW, anyone old enough to remember the 90s acid "Jesus Christ"? If so, you are lol'ing with me now, aren't you?!! :)

Do not interact with law enforcement, it will be weird, bad even.

Do not take more than 1/2-1 hit your first time. ANy more than this will probably not be tolerated well by you.

If you are with others who are doing it, there is a weird psychic connection that happens, even with hallucinations. If you are thinking of something, someone else will say it. If you see something, they will see it, and vice versa. It truly opens up the 3rd eye/6th sense. Anyone who has done this enough knwos what I mean! Also, be prepared to see things not normally visible to the eye. Can't tell you how many UFOs I've seen as witnessed by others, even as the sun came up. Whether or not they were real, I don't know, but I know alot of people who have taken acid and have seen them.

Let's not forget about trails and the weird little paisley things you'll see! This is a bit different from shrooms. The transparent paisley patterns in the air if you look close enough, even on objects and people.

Prepare to feel really, really introspective about yourself, good or bad. Or, be ready to just laugh your ass off all nite until you want to pee in ur pants!!

If you feel negative and things start looking very scary (I once got my period at a party and thought I was bleeding to death in the bathroom, lol), make an effort to get out of the situation or you will have the fabled bad trip. I have seen roof tops get torn from walls and all kinds of shit fall on people.

At the last Dead show in Chicago in 1995 (and ever!), I was on a lot of unperforated acid from the parking lot peeps and thought I was living in the 1960s. Trying to walk up the wood train stairs outside of Soldier Field was like walking up stairs of water. I couldn't even read the train schedule because I was on too much acid, had to stop a stranger to explain whta time the next train would come. When my friends and I finally got on the train, we were on the top level and the air conditioning was on on the train and little blue ice bombs were dropping on the people below. Yeah, that is tooooo high. Don't do that much acid!!!

I have done lots of paper acid and the better purple microdots of the 70's.

It was not unusual for me to take multiple hits in the same few hours with a 30 -40 minute brake in between to make sure I wouldn't OD on something made to strong.

Acid is a lot like shrooms but more chemical, edgy, glass shardy type high, not as comfortable as shrooms.

At my worst trip I had fun all day to wind up staring at bathroom tiles that had a thousand tiny black bugs racing on all the tile lines. Vertical and both Horizontal tile lines!
Freaked me out but neat to watch.

Another time I had to Blacklight posters come to life, one poster was of a chinese dragon that danced in the middle of the room. Very pretty!

1 year later I was off drugs and married to my first husband. I was sleeping in our bed and woke up to the same blacklight dragon standing at the foot of my bed asking me to come to the living room so I could dance with it.

I've heard stories about flashbacks that they are free highs and just as intense as the original highs but I was just too freaked out and afraid to get out of bed so after awhile I went back to sleep.

I had one bad experience with shrooms. I took them and about a half hour in I thought all my arm hair had jumped out and was trying to bite me. I mean, it looked real, I could feel the bites.

Long story short, I wandered off and found someone that was sober, I asked them I was just tripping or if I was covered in ants. Turned out I was just covered head to toe in ants.

Don't get too heavy into it and try to become god OP, you may be humbled in some rather unfortunate ways. Just be positive and try to go with the flow if you do it.

For me I found many recurring elements carried over from shrooms when I did 1-2 hits.

LSD can last sooo long. It is something that you are likely to tire from and wish to end well before the trip is over. It can very strong and if you get the right stuff, no mushroom and no amount of expectation or preparation is going to prepare you for the journey. I suggest you start small.

It is definitely in it's own category.

But I assure you, it is NOTHING compared to a breakthrough dose of clean DMT. DMT is the real deal. It is manufactured in almost every living thing, including the brains of humans. It is structurally similar to the chemical in mushrooms, and also serotonin, which is believed to be the chemical that facilitates our consciousness. It can't even be considered a drug in my opinion. It's way past all that. There is nothing that can explain or describe the things you see and learn, the beings you meet. You start off with a slight buzz, your vision distorts, you hear a high pitch hum that vibrates through you and everything around you starts to vibrate together with the squeal that becomes so powerful that finally your world just implodes and falls away in front of you, eyes closed or not. You see breath-taking colors that don't exist. Shapes and sounds that are so impossibly intricate and ever changing that they are almost emotionally too much to take. You see a lifetime of information, from colors, to explosions of light and creatures ever changing and morphing into shapes that are impossible. You stop being human, time fails to exist. You are no longer in your body, there is no ego, you are completely unaware of your past or present, or who you ever wear or anything you've ever known. You are a part of this universe and experiencing it as if you were a new born. Sometimes, though, you feel as though it's familiar. I attribute that to my belief that it is the spirit world, hence DMT having the name of "Spirit Molecule." You will be in places and feel that others are around you, or that they have maybe been there before you. I've even felt like I was in a place that had been traveled to distantly in the past and that they had left it ready and prepared it for future travelers after them. You are outside of anything you've ever known or could have ever imagined. You forget about that pile of flesh or your life before this point. You may remember some things from your human life, but you will feel like they are distantly in the past and you are no longer attached to them. During all this, there is no hope to ever remember even a fraction of what you see after you've come back to earth. You will remember some when it's over, but it's too much for the mind to take in so you will only be able to explain some of it. It's like the glory of god, except you see that "God" is something completely different than any man could have ever imagined. God isn't a he or a she or anything any human could write in a book. It's greater than that, it's bigger and way more complicated, yet simpler than all that. All the religions have it clouded. You might even meet the other creatures/entities that are angel/elf/machine-like. They are made of light or metallic, liquidy type energy, shifting shape in amazing and impossible ways, and they LOVE to meet you. They may sing or be playful, or give you messages. They are good and only want good for you. There are also other entities that may not be any good at all. As on earth, there are malicious entities. Although I've never met them, I've felt them. They feel like parasites waiting to feed off the weak. Once you go past that threshold and blast off into that universe... it's more profound than any man could ever describe, at least fully. You can do it in small doses and it can be entertaining, but the real thing is nothing to play with. It isn't a recreational experience. It can be terrifying and not something you can do very often because it's just so damn exhausting to go through all of it mentally, emotionally, and physically. Unless you are prepared to face the sensation of death to cross over into that realm, you're not ready for a real-deal DMT trip. I honestly believe it the gateway to the universe, broadening our consciousness and allowing our humble human minds to see through and past what our eyes can see, into the vast universe that coexists with our own reality.

LSD might help you prepare for that, though no amount of preparation can really prepare you for it.

In the 90's, I worked with folk who'd tripped on acid in the 60's heydays. They were still having flashbacks. Some of them were in closed psychiatric care as a result.

That said, some folk can trip away without problems. Problem is, you don't know which group you'll be in til it's too late.

It helps to not have much mental baggage, as any obsessions may act as a sort of 'lightning rod' for all that energy swirling around. Go with it's flow rather than try to guide the experience.
