Storm pattern shifting for major storms to impact the Western U.S. Coasts

(TheWeatherSpace.com) - The winter has either been diving storms, missing most of the Pacific Northwest and hitting Arizona or warmer temperatures, but that will change.

The ridge of high pressure responsible for driving storms north of the Western United States is finally showing signs of weakening. As this weakens further starting this week, expect the jet stream to sag southward, bringing numerous strong storms to the Pacific Northwest and down into Southern California eventually.

The target of most of the storms will be in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California, but energy from the entire jet stream will affect all of the Western United States starting on Wednesday with a massive storm into the Pacific Northwest.

The first thing we've got to do is take out all the lawyers and shoot them down like dogs.

It first snowed in Northern Arizona October 6th, and hasn't let up since. Can't complain however, as all this moisture will decrease our fire danger this summer

Scientists say a plausible super-storm that could devastate California would be fed by an “atmospheric river” moving water at the same rate as 50 Mississippi rivers discharging water into the Gulf of Mexico.

Scientists who studied historic storms to understand the risks modern California faces discussed on Friday a developing scaling system to measure the intensity of an atmospheric river — a huge hose-like flow of Pacific Ocean moisture into the state.
