I don't think Newt has ever claimed or tried to be a knight in shining armor. AFAIK, he's also never tried very hard to distance himself from the establishment, even attending Bohemian Grove, endorsing RINOs, being as labelled one, etc. Ron Paul he is not. His 'good' quality is that he's an intellectual, and intellectuals find it easy to participate in a group without necessarily taking it to heart, mentally justifying their actions in order to remain independent at heart if not in practice. It's morally lazy at best, and shameful at worst. But the extreme levels of good & evil / truth and corruption in this (2016) election has had such a polarizing effect, that has forced many people's independent-ness out of the closet, so to speak. Then when someone like Megan tries to stick a fork in you and twist it, it's going to provoke a reaction. |
