R.I.P.??? I'm sorry, but I have a hard time hoping he rests in peace when so many young lives have been ruined because he was a coward who wouldn't speak up to protect them.

Once again, he did not make the right decisions, he should have called cys and state police as soon as he heard. It is however funny to me how so many blame him when many more involved are much more to blame then he. If you do not understand this, you clearly have no knowledge of the situation so your responses are worthless.
 Quoting: Patrick Bateman

The man was catholic that defended the priest doing the same thing, then one working for him also did the same thing...does anyone see a pattern... The man was ring leader, he did his job well, entertain promoters, endanger kids, the school was extremely proud of this character, no doubt involvement in the school.

I will never hire anyone from the school as the eduction they received was lacking in so many ways. Just keep it up north. Don't bother coming south, you just might not be respected I mean look what your school, coach, and educators accepted all for the dollar bill.

Really makes me sick, I just want the rest of the group to fall, it is 2012. Waiting for the Veil to collapse....

Like many institutions...

Their time is up.

College sports is out of hand.

Way to important for a few people.

Again...the vast majority of the world could give a shit.

Sure its fun...but not a life....so put your jersey away, turn the baseball hat around (unless your ten years old) and realize it is a mass hypnotism for beer commercials.

Well, Joe will probably not be with us much longer, but leave the Judgement of his life to the only three entities that are qualified to pass such judgement; God the Father , God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. "Ye who are without Sin, thou may cast the first stone."

well I can guarantee most that are posting against that man do not have the sin he gets to carry for the rest of eternity. Being catholic that defended this same behavior out of the catholic priest was the nail in my coffin for him.

He was ring leader along with Penn State Administrators. The reputation of the school is tarnished and dented never to be the same. Every resume I see, when penn state is listed as the school, the candidate goes to the bottom of the pack. I really do not want to deal with this type of slime in my organization. I feel sorry for the children that went to school there, football be damned, their future is tarnished.

Now we have families with kids who use this as a family outing fun thing...that's good...but it can get out of hand an the kids do and can get a distorted view of sports as way too important.

I taught High School in a football town. They are nationally known. The coaches were very good friends and even they saw how wierd over time the entire program got.

I am not condoning the sin of Mr. Sandusky, but is his shame obligated to be spread across all the Penn State people. Ask yourself that!! We do not and now may not know the whole story, which is in and of itself unfortunate.

It is sad how he has been vilified in the media. He definitely could have done more, but he did do what, I think most people of his generation would have done in the same situation. Hind sight is always 20/20, but someone should not be judged by hindsight. He only knew about what someone else told them that they saw and he reported it to his superior. He was a rose among weeds in college football and has done more good than most can dream of doing. I have never heard one bad thing about him until this year and it literally killed him.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9312783

Hmmmm....Check out this article...then think about these quotes:

‎"I didn't know exactly how to handle it and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was" (because University Procedure is ultimately more important than reporting sexual abuse of a child).

"So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did." (Backing away is always best.)

"So I sat around. It was a Saturday. Waited till Sunday because I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing." (Waiting is usually the best thing to do when you know a child is being abused).

Who knew one of the most "winningest" coaches in college football was so clueless (at best...or is he just a coward?)

Seriously??!!

And think about this: Had McQueary told Paterno he suspected something unethical going on with the *team* - say illegal recruiting or paying players - you damn well bet Paterno wouldn't just "report up the chain" - he'd have followed up on it. But he passes along an accusation of child molestation as if he were just delegating a chore -- and no follow up whatsoever? RRRIIIIGGGHHHTT.....

"I didn't know exactly how to handle it and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was" (because University Procedure is ultimately more important than reporting sexual abuse of a child).
