The 80's were a blur for me. I was in college, then I graduated, married, moved PA, TX, KS, OH, KS (again) all with my husband's job, and started to have babies. I didn't really have time to delve into the popular culture.

The 80s were a big disappointment.

It was basically the selling out of the hippy generation.

MTV: (after the Bee Gees came the music video from Duran Duran to Hair Bands)

TV: Miami Vice, Magnum PI, Star Wars

Fashion: Cheap to expensive sunglasses, parachute pants, members only jackets

Cars: Mustangs and Cameros to Buick Grand Nationals

Wars: None, just the so called Cold War Reagan and Gorby

MTV had V-Jay's and played actual music videos all day. English invasion the 2nd time with bands like ABC. Rockin big curly hair, and shoulder pads in everything you wore. Boys wore tighter pants.
The world wasn't so scary back then.

Blue mascara was great! Also bangs were like "the claw" and lots of mouse and hairspray. And everyone started saying "like" As in "like we were going to the mall and like she had to call her boyfriend first.

The '80s = FUN, at least if you were a kid or teenager ;)

Oh, and '80s music was more diverse than today, many bands from rock to alternative etc. etc., with a wide variety of sound, previous to the idiotic, mind-numbing rock/hiphop of today
