ALASKA'S BERMUDA TRIANGLE OR LACK OF GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABLITY?
I just learned about this, so please let me know if this is old news.
Alaska has the highest missing persons rate of any state. By as much as 16%. And the #1 state for congress peoples death or disappearence. Here is some news.

"It’s been a summer of disappearances in Alaska. In early June, Iditarod musher Melanie Gould went missing from her hometown of Talkeetna, vanished in the middle of the night. Her truck was found days later, at the end of a remote mining road, more than 100 miles from her home.

An extensive search with dogs and aircraft ensued, only to be called off a week later, with still no sign of Gould. There was no telling what had happened to her then, whether she had been in the woods for more than a week, or she’d gotten into another vehicle -- voluntarily or otherwise -- and was missing elsewhere.

And then, two days after the official search ended, she was unexpectedly found, alive. She came out of the woods, tired, hungry, and cold. Then she disappeared anyway, gone to live with family elsewhere, leaving behind many unanswered questions about her vanishing act, including a report that she had stayed away from the initial search effort despite hearing them in the woods."

"Whether it’s just a matter of succumbing to the wilderness or something more sinister, Alaska has played host to its fair share of disappearances over the years. In 1972, then-Congressman Nick Begich, the father of current Alaska senator and former Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich, disappeared while flying to Juneau from Anchorage. The plane was never found."

The vast emptiness of much of Alaska and its reputation as an end-of-the-road kind of place has contributed to many disappearances, and nowhere is this more evident than in the Alaska Missing Persons Clearinghouse.

A collection of people gone missing over the years in the Last Frontier, the clearinghouse is a collection of 80 photographs, and it’s eerie to look through these past disappearances -- all of them still unsolved -- like a Facebook for the vanished.

"There’s no rhyme or reason to the demographics of the missing people: they are male, female, young, old, black, white, Alaska Native, and otherwise. A few of the pictures are in black and white, despite their disappearances being fairly recent. Melanie Gould was listed in the database for a brief time before her reemergence from the woods."

Just check it out!

Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Begich, Sr.

"On October 16, 1972, he was aboard a twin engine Cessna 310 along with House Majority Leader Hale Boggs of Louisiana when the plane disappeared during a flight from Anchorage to Juneau. Also on board were Begich's aide, Russell Brown; and the pilot, Don Jonz.[3] The four were heading to a campaign fundraiser for Begich.

In an enormous search effort, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force search and rescue planes looked for the four men and their airplane. On November 24, 1972, after proceeding for thirty-nine days, the air search was called off. Neither the wreckage of the plane nor the pilot's or passengers' remains have ever been found. All were declared dead on December 29, 1972. The accident prompted Congress to pass a law mandating emergency locator transmitters in all United States civil aircraft."

What about Ted Stevens, the senator from Alaska.

"Stevens died on August 9, 2010, when a de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter he and several others were flying in crashed while en route to a private fishing lodge."

Not only do ppl go missing, homeless ppl die from no apparent reason.

There was a girl kidnapped Feb. 1, from the coffee shop where she worked in the busiest time of the evening and the have video an still she has not been found. This has been the biggest one in a while. How does an adult get abducted on broad daylight and on camera and can't be found??

According to this show, a person disappears in Alaska every day; the natives have a saying for this, "Gone missing," and the phrase seems to have ominous, almost supernatural overtones. With rugged terrain filled with plenty of enticing (if dangerous) things to do, and much travel done by airplane, Alaska seems to be a perfect place for such vanishings, and the show presents a "triangle" map with a huge swath of land ruled off for the alleged strange occurrences. In 1992, three brothers disappeared when returning by plane from a remote fishing trip, no trace was ever found. Twenty years earlier, house majority leader Hale Boggs and congressmen Mitch Begich disappeared on a route "bisected" by the alleged triangle. The pilot who flew them that fateful day is described as "arrogant" by fellow pilots. A huge effort, including overflight by SR-71 spy planes, was mounted to find the men, but nothing ever turned up.

Also, Alaska has the biggest plane crash rate. I remember the stevens accident, was also a huge deal. Even helicopters go missing regularly. It's a pretty weird state.

The video of the girl? No what's even stranger is that law enforcement hasn't released it to the public! Wouldn't it be more helpful.? There's a 60k reward too.
