Tracy User ID: 3600586 Australia 02/24/2012 09:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My lil tabby cat was stretched out snoozing tonight, on the couch, long, white, fluffy, belly and paws gently waving in the breeze. My son had a male friend over briefly, while he got dressed for a night on the town. Friend is 19, baby-faced, 6'7, nearly as round as he is tall...a mountain of a manboy. Friend came into the loungeroom and chuckled when he saw kitty stretched out snoozing so peacefully and tickled her chin, stroked her soft belly...kitty loved it...purr, purr. And then she opened her eyes. Well...that really big, bug eyed dilation thing happened. She sprang to her feet....didnt move too far...she couldnt...she was transfixed...but I can tell you.....for her...THAT look...said WTF!!!!!!!! Who the hell, what the FUCK, I dont know YOU, how DARE you! Fight or flight kicks in...and when it does...its funny as hell! Last Edited by Red Red Whine on 02/24/2012 09:52 AM |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1805432 Denmark 02/24/2012 10:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | and you shouldn't be, im friendly :o) a cat will have enlarged pupils if it is exicted by something, a sudden loud sound, sudden movements it didn't anticipate and if it is playing with a toy or hunting something, or even if its get suprised like in the above story, lol I can just imagine that scenario :D all this talk about parasites is nonsence and grossely exaggerated. some cats seem slightly "disturbed" and will attack/bit randomly. but I think this has something to do with how it has been treated by humans, if it has been stressed all its upbringing it will react erratic, if it has been treated kindly and left alone when it wanted to, it would be more calm. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5240732 United States 02/24/2012 10:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My cat always got that "look" before he would attack. He was always playful, but around age 10 he went batshit crazy. He viciously attacked me daily (and others too, but mainly me), unprovoked, and without mercy. He would latch on to a leg and bite and claw the shit out of me, and if i managed to pry him off, he would keep trying. He would also stalk me, and if i turned my back to him for even a second, he attcked again. I often needed antibiotics for the bites. The vet couldn't find anything physically wrong with him, and suggested I put him down. The attacks went on for over a year as I didnt have the heart to do the inevitable, but when he began attacking my young children (even clawed my infant son) I had no choice. I still feel guilty two years later. The vet said his previous health problems likely contributed to this problem, and he likely suffered brain damage from an eye/head infection he had prior to the behavior. Didn't make me feel much better though :( |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10555199 It seems the worm in their brain has gotten to them and they go schizo? when cats eyes get really big it could be a few diff reasons. They are scarred-someone is scarring r overly playing with the cat-it could be spooked. It may have something physically wrong. Does the cat have enough toys and playtime? When they get bored they act bad. Hope I helped a little. I have a 21 year old cat, I got her at 4 weeks old. I love her and hate her but 21 years there ok. just trying to figure it out |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 7570540 United States 02/24/2012 11:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Dilated pupils normally mean it's dark - and cats tend to be a little more lively in the night-time hours. The cat might be trying to get somebody to play with him or he might be hungry. If the dilated pupils is a permanent thing - he is likely blind, which will affect his behavior. He is scared and will attack anything that comes near. We have a cat that got West Nile a few years back - it made him blind (totally dilated pupils) and was really kind of crazy for a couple of years - we couldn't even pet him without him tearing into us. We persevered and he eventually learned to deal with his blindness. You often cannot tell when a cat is blind because they get so they know their surroundings so well that they can move around like nothing is wrong. |
