For most today "magic" means pulling hares out of helmets whereas "magick" means tools employed to effect change through means other than the obvious. In the case of the "Illuminati" - their "magick" involves both extreme sexual/religious ritual and technology so far beyond our understanding as to fit Arthur C. Clarke's definition of "magic".
