Kuwait’s parliament said on Thursday that it would support the rebel Free Syria Army. The MPs also called on the Kuwaiti government to cut ties with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Reuters reports. The parliament also called for Assad to be prosecuted for crimes against civilians. On Wednesday, the Kuwaiti MPs suggested that the government recognize the opposition Syrian National Council as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

Recent “confrontational elements” which emerged during a vote at the UN General Assembly and a Friends of Syria meeting in Tunisia show that Russia’s partners are not ready to work on the Syrian dossier, the minister told Rossiyskay Gazeta daily on Thursday.

It seems that Western partners are being held captive by “some artificial scheme,” that is based on a wrong assessment of the Syrian situation, Lavrov said.
