Now there is a so called lifeline to alert if temperature rises to dangerous levels (and a sub to check RPMS on the ventilators) and the strange thing was that several failed within minutes. One question comes to mind: can those ventilators be controlled by an unknown third party? I´ve heard of StuxNt, but doubt that single ventilators can be targeted like that. Make no mistake: a busy server can overheat and shutdown in minutes (or less) when colling stops. Forget this remark, this is what he meant with "blade" [link to www.cisco.com] I´m such a noob lol. Still several went down all at once. That is still fishy. The only reason they did not think it was an attack is because it pointed directly to hardware. What are the odds that both production and backup fail at the same time? Staggering. [RESOLVED] - [NETHERLANDS VPS] connectivity issues 19/03/2012 14:37 We are having connectivity issues on all Netherlands nodes, we are currently investigating. UPDATE #1 : Engineers at the data centre are working to resolve the issue, further details regarding the cause will be released as we get them UPDATE #2 : The Data Centre has just confirmed this is not an attack as first suspected, engineers are working to resolve the issue, updates will continue as they become available. UPDATE #3 : There is a fault at the upstream providers side which has prevented restoration of network services, the issue has been escalated. UPDATE #4 : An engineer has just replaced all the blades on the routers, the DC hope everything should start coming online very soon. RESOLVED - The faulty network hardware has been replaced and the network has been restored. |

The speed of my connection to ISPs in the same city where I live are totally normal. But the speed of connections to ISPs in other continents are much slower than usual. I'm testing with SpeedTest. |

The main application of routers is in woodworking, especially cabinetry. It was a tool particularly used by pattern makers and staircase makers and consisted of a broad-based wooden hand plane with a narrow blade projecting well beyond its base plate gaining it the nickname Old Woman's Tooth. Although the original hand tool has a few advantages over the power tool equivalent and retains favour with some workers, since about 1960, it has all but been replaced by the modern spindle router, which was designed for the same work, although the first electric hand routers appeared in the years just after World War I. Further refinement produced the plunge router, invented by ELU (now part of DeWalt) in Germany in the late 1940s. This is even better adapted for many types of work. Today, traditional hand-powered routers are often called router planes. Some workers[1] consider it to be the single most versatile woodworking power tool. Modern routers are often used in place of traditional moulding planes or spindle moulder machines for edge decoration (moulding) of timber. |

Townsville (home town) got hit by a so called mini tornado at about 5:15 am this morning. I was on the net at 4:15 am this morning because I was woken by the wild weather, and no warnings about that at all. First I knew was when I was woken at 6:30 am by my sister ringing from down south to find out if I was okay. I am still trying to get enough information to decide whether it is safe to go into work this morning or stay home. Outside my front door looks like 'normal' stormy weather but apparently there are over 1,000 homes without power, homes have had roofs blown off, trees and power lines are down, roads are closed due to flooding .... |
