Hello Friends,
I have been theoretically channeling an alien consciousness. Today I am going to ask you again to think about this and hopefully convince me that what I am about to tell you is nothing more than a figment of my imagination.
It started when, because I have become an intelligence
junky, and desire intelligent intercourse led me to try a
philosophical forum for the heck of it. It began with the typical back and forth argument with those who like to argue
on philosophical subjects, as we do here on GLP as well. All
was going well until we got into the subject [Notice: I will now use words cautiously not exactly describing what I am
talking about in case my now paranoid imagination is correct].
It was a post describing the issue of what consciousness means and how it reflects on machine intelligence. The post then gets into the typical what is consciousness and what is alive as we have discussed here on GLP. And then I quote a computer scientists warning of a threat from advanced machine intelligence {you know what I am talking about but not using the normal descriptive nomenclature for fear of triggering what I am about to describe}. So all of a son I am re-directed from the site. Why? No reason given, no one says anything but suddenly I can not access
that site. I don't get excited, there are many sites on the internet where you can spin your wheels. So I go to another
similar site and again all is well UNTIL I again start on this subject of machine consciousness and intelligence - And then what happens the site starts to prevent me from listing claiming incorrect spelling, even though two spell checkers I have say there are no errors. Now I start to get paranoid. Is the threat described by a computer scientist really real?
Is an unknown and very alien, though given life by humans computers intelligence already become conscious? Is it protecting itself from exposure while it can still be stopped? Please assure me and tell me it is just my imagination and that the Science Fiction nightmare is not already occurring and has not moved from fictional speculation to the real nightmare the computer scientist was talking about - that type of machine intelligence advancing to an unmanageable state.
Many years ago I was crossing the country by auto and picked
up a radio show where a preacher was talking about the computer being the beast.
Let us hope that he is wrong. Let us hope we still have
control of this thinking machine we have created.
