Maybe Mom and Dad decide to make some money off of her art, But like I said I am not real religious so it could be she hit the DNA jackpot. Another aspect is there have been people that have had some type of accident happen to them and then be able to do things that they couldn't even imagined before. Could be that we all have abilities that for some reason we just can't reach. When they studied Einstein's brain they couldn't find any difference then any other brain. They thought she was having nightmares or something. Then she started painting. Quoting: rickky She is sixteen now here is her site: She is considered the only Bi-prodigy (specialty in two areas) in the world. [link to www.akiane.com] If you don't think she isn't talented, she sold 3 million dollars in art at age 7 and now her painting are listed at $5000-3 million each. Woke up one day when she was four? Do you have ANY grasp of what a child is like at the age of four? They are not exactly having complex thoughts, nor would her artwork be any result of the "doctrines" of Atheism. She would not have any heavy influence from their parents as far as religion goes unless the parents made a heavy attempt at instilling atheism. Atheists are not this zealous in almost any situation. She was four ffs, her being raised in any kind of family doesn't really make much difference and shouldn't be part of your critical thought processes when using her case as an example of influence of a higher power. Sometimes I think that religious people have been trained and led for so long, that they will literally believe anything both true and false, to satisfy their own shallow "faith". |

This girl has been seriously, sadly brainwashed, pure and simple. NO CHILD can develop that kind of "mindset" without direct influence from religious zealots. So she paints - the paintings are good (why so many black kids?), but there are a lot of children who display incredible talents when they're young. If she wants to believe her talent is a gift, that she's blessed, more power to her! But to spout that kind of ultra-religious fanaticism is always, always, disturbing . . . and when the source of that fanaticism is a child, it is disturbing multiplied. |

I certainly have a grasp of what a child is like at the age of four. I remember nearly everything from that age, at it has been collaborated by several people. Four year olds can have complex feelings, have thoughts completely antithesis to their parents (I did). They aren't all drooling hair-pulling Sesame Street watching morons. |

Then I read this title, and I thought it must be her. Too funny. My friend posted photos of her daughter and I was telling her how much she resembles Akiane, so I went to the site to see if she has any new work posted. Her writings are really profound and thought provoking, too. It's been amazing to watch her expression in art evolve along with her as she grows older, and becomes a young woman. |
