A friend of mine is a mining engineer and his theory is that because the Clintonville area has granite underground. That there are cracks in the granite that are normally filled with water. As the water disappears, the rocks shift and crash into eachother, causing the loud booms underground. This may eventually cause a large sinkhole. The question is where and why is the water disappearing under clintonville, wi?
