Redpaw360 User ID: 11235712 United States 04/04/2012 02:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | San Diego scientists are developing a program that will detect earthquakes about a minute before they hit, hopefully in enough time to give some warning to trains, hospitals and other warning systems, according to SDSU Geologist Pat Abbott. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10267579 Abbott said the next big earthquake that will hit California will likely be a magnitude of about 7.8 on the east side of the Salton Sea. Thursday, Mar 22, 2012 [link to www.nbcsandiego.com] Serious question: what can a person do against a major earthquake with only a one minute warning? In one minute?. I can grab my BOB and get to either my triangle area, or i could get power and gas shutoff,or forgo everything and get to an open area. I could even get my camera ready and make a great GLP doom quake video! Good point, Redpaw, about at least being able to grab the BOB, etc. But what is your triangle area? I picture something outdoors, but when I searched for it, I found this: [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] Forgive my answer if you dont agree: Your link is correct, the triangle of life area in a structure. Now here's the part you may not agree with. Search and Rescue teams from all over the world have always shown that survivors are found in the triangular pockets within collapsed buildings. Now the Red Cross is trying to get you killed by saying, duck and cower, which I feel is exactly what they want people to do ( duck and die ) so they can pull another Haiti Fiasco. All that money given to red cross for so many disasters (911, Mexico city, Indonesia, Katrina, etc) and just look at how shitty all those places still are....I'd rather drive water and food myself to victims than to let any agency have my nickel to squander. /end rant toward RC Oregon Constitution Article I, Section 27 The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power. |

What I know about Cajon and areas north of Indio, is that Big Bear and wright wood will have a tough time getting off the mountain. I may be headed up that way from LA to avoid the tsunami when the San Andreas rips from the Gulf of California to the Salton Sea to the central valley. which way to run when the freeways are packed? jus' thinkin' about it. but then, a big enough earthquake could move mountains too, I suppose. |

In the northridge quake as well as landers, the road from San Berdo to Big Bear was closed for weeks from slides. We were prospecting northwest of BB Lake and had to get off the mountain using Old Woman Springs Hwy that leaves northbound from wrightwood.... I think I got that right, it was a lot of dirt roads we took to the east of BB Lake then across many broken highways and backroads to the 15. I just remember thinking that being up there was not fun trying to get back down. I noticed a small swarm of unusual activity near Riverside last week and commented on it. But THIS - this is REALLY wierd - 3 earthquakes one day, 9 the next, 30 the next and 20 today so far - and this includes two 3.5 yesterday. THIS IS CREEPY - VERY unusual indeed. Too close to that San Andreas fault line for comfort. Hope everyone has their preps in order. Hope the GLP effect helps us. Good catch OP! |

Thursday, Mar 22, 2012 [link to www.nbcsandiego.com] Japan have already acquired the earthquake warning system technology long ago. This warning system sends a text message to all Japanese enrolled, minutes before the earthquake strikes. I don't understand how come California of all places have not acquired this technology. [link to www.time.com] I signed up for one - I'm here in SoCal - never received a text from them though - I'd probably have to change my pants if I received a text from them LOL! |

I was here back when we had the last big one in the 90's and survived then, will survive this one too. In 2010, just before Baja had their big one on Easter, they had a swarm just like this. I'd say we are going to get hit, just be ready! Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
