Same here. My buddy feels the same way about his gal. It's just such a fond memory that never looses it's appeal. Especially considering what the hell we all have been through since then.

I was in touch with my first love after a high school reunion. After that, I wondered what I saw in him in the first place. He put down all our friends, and could not understand why his wife didn't trust him. Then he asked me if we could get together because he was still in love with me.

WTF?

Forget her and move on...if she has. Life is too short.

Married 16 years as well. I've loved three girls in my life... married of one of them and still friends with the other two. That's kinda cool.

Yes, in fact I dreamed about him last night. Met 32 years ago in fact.

I'm not actually trying to forget though, rather trying to remember more detail, not less.

Oh! 32 is on my avatar stamp, just thought of that!

Must be influencing me more than I realize, still.

Re: Anyone else having trouble forgetting their 1st love?
Yes. I dream about him often. I keep in touch every now and again. When my relationship is going through a ruff time I think about him. I wish I could have made more memories with him. The memories I do have, I cherish dearly. I sometimes think about revisiting "us" to get my flame going again. I don't think this will ever fade. It has already been maybe 8 years. No.
The term derives from the Ancient Greek words, meta, meaning beyond or after, and noia, meaning perception or understanding or mind.

Problem? No, my friend, those are some of my fondest memories. It's been 50 years since I last saw her, but I will forever love her.

Cherish those moments in the years to come.

No. I don't feel love for humans. Sympathy, at times, and pity, but not love. I don't know what happened, but that emotion has gone away from me, and I am kinda happy that it did.

Not troubling at all. She occasionally stops by while I'm dreaming. Nothing sexual, just there in some sort of capacity. Haven't actually seen her in close to 20 years now.

Re: Anyone else having trouble forgetting their 1st love?
The only good thing about my first lover was the sex. It was fantastic. But she just loved sex too much, & ended up cheating on me when she left for college. it was never going to work anyways.

My second lover was a great friend, but she was a poor lover. She had a fantastic body but just didn't like sex enough. In the end we mutually split up because neither of us where getting what we wanted apparently. I tried to stay friends with her but she believed it was inappropriate for her to stay in contact with me whilst she was with someone else.

My current love is the love of my life. It's a typical goldilocks story, she is the right amount of personality, awesomeness, sex, & affection, & we're now having a child. I am a very lucky man to have the woman I have, & I'll treat her like a queen for as long as she'll let me.5a

Confusing animal lust and attraction for love is a common mistake. Almost everyone makes that mistake.

Normal? Shoot, they went and wrote a country song about it!

Well, I guess you can take some comfort in the fact that when you breath your last, you'll finally be over her and move on.
