The point is the cop had other options.

He could have used pepper spray, or his baton. The owner could have grabbed the dog but giving ONE SECOND between get your hands up and then get your dog BANG. Seriously listen to the video.

And then he blames the dog owner for not getting the dog "why didn't you get your dog" Really?! Because the guy had a gun in his face and was told to get his hands up.

I'll agree the dog's owner handled the situation well, I wouldn't have been that composed, and probably would be in jail right now.

I agree the cop has the right to defend himself, but the NOT the right to use deadly force against a nonlethal threat, especially when he had other options.

If that had been me and my dog it would have ended exactly the same way, sadly. My dog is protective but not aggressive. He would have charged barking and even growling but wouldn't have attacked. All the cop would have had to do is continue to back up until I could retrieve my dog.

+1 i deal with peoples dogs all day, i must carry pepper spray for that sole reason (policy). Pepper spray will stop a dog practically instantly and avoid getting bitten.
