This is quite the doom packed Monday...

The DOOM is really intensifying over there! I can't believe that some think nothing (bad) will ever happen between the North and the South. It's not a joke... some of these folks are CRAZY and have NOTHING TO LOSE!

I have a son over in the region, and the military is prepared to deal with whatever comes there way. I'm praying for our troops, and also for all the innocent people suffering over there.

IMO, this is an extremely serious situation, and I am checking GLP a few times an hour for the latest details. Thank you so much for keeping us all in the know!

You only need to be wrong one time... The fact they could test a Uranium device instead of plutonium is a big deal... That along with NK desperately trying to successfully test a long range missile...

Some Western officials fear that to compensate for the embarrassment of its failed April 12 satellite launch, North Korea's new leader Kim Jong Un will conduct the country's third nuclear test, detonating a weapon using weapon-grade uranium. The North's previous two tests used plutonium as the core of the tested devices.

The consequences in the Middle East could be particularly troubling. At the moment, one factor restraining Israel from attacking Iranian nuclear sites -- and potentially triggering a wider war in the region -- is the belief that Iran halted its efforts to develop the non-nuclear parts for a nuclear weapon (its ''weaponization'' program) in 2003. This would mean that even if Iran produced weapon-grade uranium, which it has the capacity to do, but has so far refrained from doing, it would still need to restart its weaponization effort and manufacture the non-nuclear parts for a weapon before posing an immediate threat. This, the U.S. has argued to Israel, means there is still time to pursue the current set of talks to limit Iran's nuclear program, before use of military force might be needed.

But if North Korea and Iran are collaborating on developing a uranium-based nuclear weapon, the time Iran might need to build its bomb would be cut short. And if the design were confirmed in a North Korean nuclear test -- in which Iran might be participating, just as the North participated in Iranian tests of the No Dong/Shahab III -- anxieties in Israel could be further heightened and the risks of an Israeli air strike greatly increased.

Same sentiment, but I doubt we'll be so lucky. Too many countries want to kick our ass :(
Plus, there's a few rouge countries like NK who are just aching to bring on the doom.

What say we or China blow a few EMPs in low altitude over NK at night. NK loses its power, but because its NK, and because its night, no satellites pick up any problems. NK wakes up and IT has no power.

Pretty awful thing, to do, but I believe Russia would do worse! from the People at the top presently!

And I do believe you will probably see another Nuclear Strike somewhere in the World and/or USA, its not a matter of "if", its a matter of "when"!

I seriously doubt NK has ever succesfully test a "Plutonium bomb"...it's far more difficult and the timing is ultra critical.

A uranium atomic bomb is very easy to build....hell we didn't even bother to test the Hiroshima bomb (Uranium gun device) before we dropped it because it's that just simple and virtually impossible to fail. We tested the Nagasaki style bomb because that type of (implosion Plutonium) bomb is far more difficult to make work.

Most people could build an atomic bomb with highly enriched Uranium in their garage...the ONE difficult thing about it?...Getting "Highly enriched Uranium"...now THAT part ain't easy...but once you have enough to create a critical mass?...you just take two halves of the critical mass and put em together... Boom, Hiroshima bomb....it's just that simple.

Sure it doesn't make the most high tech or small potent nuke you can put in a warhead very easily, but it does go big flash atomic kaboom.

This is why everyone is so concerned about Iran's Uranium enrichment program for instance....OOOH they aren't making a bomb they are only making highly enriched Uranium!...well once you get about 100lbs of Highly enriched Uranium in one place you have a Hiroshima bomb...whether you want to or not...lol...it's a natural reaction that cannot be stopped and it's the same reaction that is the basis for nuclear power plants as well, just on a far lessor enrichment level.
