He 'quit money' and is still living a happy life
Daniel Suelo hasn't made a penny in 12 years. He hasn't spent a penny either.

Suelo is the subject of the book "The Man Who Quit Money," by Mark Sundeen. In 2000, Suelo had $30 to his name. He left the money in a phone booth and never looked back. Since then, Suelo has lived on public lands, foraging in dumpsters and canyons for food. He welcomes the generosity of others.

He doesn't pay taxes. Doesn't accept any form of government welfare. And appears relatively happy...

Awesome :D Love stories like that.

I have an idea, everyone that makes less than 90,000$ a year will quit money... then we will all be happy together!

AVERAGE minds talk about EVENTS
SMALL minds talk about PEOPLE

Yea because he is free... Duh.

Stop working for a few years and youll come to the same conclusion.. Working 40+ hours a week to buy all this bullshit is NOT the way to live and I frankly feel bad for anyone who does.

You miss so much of your life.

... all for something that doesn't exist. Everyone came into this world empty handed and everyone will leave the same way.

If even 2% of people did this - It would bring down the whole system.

Re: He 'quit money' and is still living a happy life
I quit my job in 2003 because I was basically fed up with everything -- I didn't even care if I would end up homeless or dead. All I wanted to do was getting my shit together before I went crazy. Thankfully some family members decided to help me.

I have learned so much and now I'm trying to reestablish myself into the money -making business with a clear / free mind, and my friend, that is the most difficult thing, because everything that involves money is sick , sad and exploratory. It's like dealing with manure. It's like bargaining with the devil.

the ones who are the most dependent are the those partaking into the economic system. the most deluded ones are those who brag about how they've worked all their lives to earn their 'money' and "never depended on anyone". bwhahahhaha

yeah right... you need processed food, electricity, a roof, water, and all kinds third-party services. you also need a bank to print your money, and you need the money in itself. you can't even barter or build your own stuff from raw material, because the land and its resources have been taken by your fellow men. you need TV, entertainment, sex. just think about it. you are completely dependent on every aspect of your life. we all are.

the economic slaver has to be the worst form of mental slavery this planet has ever seen. at least when you are a ball and chain slave you can look at your cage and your chain and see that they are there. but these people man, they don't even see the prison they are in.

nowadays if you are smart you ought to DEPEND on someone if you want to survive. there is no other way to live. even heroes depend on the existence of victims and villains to be what they are.

Well put. I had a similar experience. Once I threw out most of the crap I had acquired over the years, I realized that I was not really using that much money anyway for basic life expenses (it was mainly going for entertainment and hobby stuff). Like you said, you probably can't survive on your own, but barter is a great way to get things you need and meet like minded folks. I think the barter system will be making a big comeback.

Re: He 'quit money' and is still living a happy life
the monetary system is still a barter system except that there is a middle man taking a percentage of what gets exchanged just because he 'can'.

dump the middle man
