Depends on the location of the dump. If an area that is unlikely to be stepped on...I leave it. My dog is pretty good about pinching his loaf in the bushes where most people don't walk. It's good to look at it occasionally as dogs are creatures of opportunity and will eat all kinds of stuff which may give them worms or illness. Your dog can't tell you he's sick so you have to look for signs.
