Elliot Lake mall rescue efforts set to resume
1 confirmed dead but unclear how many were caught in debris
Search and rescue efforts are to resume today at a partially collapsed mall in Elliot Lake, Ont., where one person has been confirmed dead, after officials drew the ire of local residents for calling the mission off and following an appeal from Premier Dalton McGuinty.
However, it remains uncertain when or how the search efforts will happen after emergency officials cautioned at a news conference Monday night that details of the operation remain uncertain.
They are going to resume it...but there is much wrong with this mall..many of us in town always figured it was going to happen at some point and time..
I can picture what they are talking about as I have been in that mall thousands of times to shop....as the structure sits and if they resume the efforts they are going to have a very hard time...as debris is still falling from the outer edges and the escalator is hanging on by a thread and if the escalator goes then it will crash through the front doors...
also what they don't say about this is all the water that is inside along with the back wash of sludge from the over hanging pipes when this first occured...the grocery stores is on the first fllor and all the meats in there will now be attracting bugs and vermin...the list goes on and on
