If a large quake happens on the other side you may get a quake, depending on where it is. For instance the few quakes we get at the bottom of africa are directly related to the quakes in the beering strait, near greenland. Quoting: AwakeInTassie Yep, and also use 3d earthquake thing. Shows what they call a shell. Many free downloads on the net. I think sometimes we get antipodal quakes instead of sftershocks. I will start playing with it. |

NEOs Close Pass July 2012 NEOs (Near-Earth Objects) / Asteroids Close Approaches July 2012 As of today, 2JUL2012, there are no NEOs listed that will come close enough to Earth to encourage our meteor/fireball viewing pleasure. BUT, this data will certainly have additions once the full moon is passed and more objects are discovered. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9434416 USGS and others tend to underestimate our NZ earthquakes. I was told by Geonet the USGS use a different scale, 1 point lower than ours, in other words what Geonet reports as a 7 the USGS would report as a 6. Your government measures quakes different. Your measurement equivalent is 10 -11% higher. Quoting: Anonymous Coward Thus 5.9-6.0 = NZ 7.0 Big difference. 1000 times No need to screencap, no hit yet. |

TheTruthWorker (OP) User ID: 1307920 United States 07/04/2012 06:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | EARTHQUAKE SUMMARY FOR JULY 3, 2012 Quoting: DoorBert The full moon alignment occurred on July 3 at 18:52 UT. As this summary has previously discussed seismicity associated with the full moon is generally horizontal motion such as in strike-slip faults. Areas with the largest faults of this type include northern Turkey, California, New Zealand and southeast Asia among others. In the summary at the time of the last full moon on June 3 this was discussed as follows and this discussion holds equally for the current full moon: " ... strong activity possible to likely in Tonga/Fiji and New Zealand. Horizontal motions are most likely to be initiated during this tidal event. Areas of horizontal motion in the eclipse area include strike-slip faults in the Western United States and New Zealand and on the Anatolian Fault system of Turkey. Seismicity is likely to increase and a large event is possible in the next four days." (June 3, 2012) and a follow-up to this: "In this regard, seismicity along the strike-slip faults of the western U.S was also up today with the maximum event, an M 4.0 in Baja California. A series of light earthquakes of M 2.5-3.5 also occurred in southern and Central California today. An unusual M 4.6 near Nelson, New Zealand was felt widely in that area yesterday." (June 5, 2012) With this in mind, it should not be surprising to readers of this summary that a strong earthquake hit in central New Zealand and a series of light earthquakes hit near San Francisco, California today. The continuing series of moderately strong solar flares and the continuing geomagnetic storm were also probably instrumental in promoting this activity. The Nelson quake was the largest foreshock to today’s event. The location of the earthquakes in San Francisco is near the 103 degree shadow zone edge from New Zealand and some promotion from seismic energy is possible as well. A strong earthquake of M 6.2-7.1 hit at an intermediate focal depth of 230 km south of Wellington, New Zealand. It was felt throughout central New Zealand but created only minor damage due to its depth. GNS reported the quake was the largest to strike the Taranaki Bight area in the past 100-120 years. Would not be surprised to see more shaking going on. July 16 has the potential to become a target quake date but until more NEOs are discovered, the next target for a significant earthquake based on average "daily NEO counts" is within a day of July 21. |

How do you NOT look desperate, + all the other earthquake threads you made where you were TOTALLY WRONG. At this point, honestly. You have absolutely no credibility. And I'm just saying as an observer. You look pretty desperate. |
