The un-raveling of the United States of America...
I’m going to share a little story with you people. I might get some negative karma for it, but so be it…I didn’t come here for a popularity contest.

I was born in Sept. 1965 in a little Virginia town called Covington. When I was just about ready to enter the fourth grade ( I was only 9…the laws were different then) we moved to West Virginia and bought a farm.

Shortly after the move, my father died of a heart attack. My mother had to go to work. (she worked 2 jobs, a day shift and a midnight shift at the hospital).

Our farm was kinda small. We kept 4 cows and a bull, 100 chickens at a time, a couple of goats, some ducks and an ornery ass pony that would bite the shit out of you. We had two gardens about 75 feet wide and 150 feet long and grew everything…potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, Lima beans, pinto beans, okra, onions, lettuce….you name it...and then canned it for the winter.

After dad passed and mom went to work…guess who tended to these things? Me…a 9-10 year old. I got up at 4:00am to start feeding. I was back in the house by 5:30 and took a “bath” …no shower here… and got ready to catch the bus at 6:30 for an hour ride to school.

As our farm was pretty small, we didn’t have hay fields so to winter the animals, I worked the summers for our neighbor. They were an older, retired couple and their kids and grand kids lived miles away. Each summer we took in about 200 acres worth of hay. The old man drove the tractor and I did all the other stuff…like loading twine in the baler and removing clogs and debris…. dangerous stuff for a kid. But….I was a smart, careful kid…so…I’m here today. I cannot describe to you the pride I personally felt that I actually did things that "mattered" to the family..."I" made sure we had hay for the animals for the winter.

The point I am trying to make is…America has lost its way today. Our kids don't know what it means to "make a difference" for the family welfare.

There was a time we were damn tough…the rest of the world was awed by how hard working and clever we were. They marveled at the things we could accomplish. Today…we are a joke to them.

I give a bit of my story to make a point. When and where I grew up…this was common, everyday and “expected” stuff. Kids were relied on to do their part for the family…now today…we only ask our kids to not use too many minutes on the family cellular plan. WTF?

If our country is declining as it appears to be (rhetorical statement)…it’s our fault. We are raising a generation of pussies and sissies who think they are entitled to what they want without putting an ounce of effort into it…

Well let me tell you something…I put gallons of sweat into this world…and I still haven’t earned the right to be “entitled” to anything…you work, you eat…you don’t…..you don’t.

So…anyway…this is why we are falling apart at the seams and the rest of the world laughs at us when they used to respect us…we have spoiled our children and now the “ckicklings” are coming home to roost with a wide open mouth and hand extended….

I’ll post some other time about our failure to properly teach and implement discipline…this “no spankie” generation is the death cry for us all…I got my ass tanned often…and I am a better person for it…but that is another tale for another day….

You are correct in a sense...the whole mood and mindset is different. 236 years ago...we had a dream to be self sufficient without an iron fist over our heads....todays youth seems to beg for that fist, or the goodies held within it's sleeve.

It's going to be hard. If you spank your kid in public...generally at the grocery store where the tend to get waaay too excited about the "eye candy"...then you might get in trouble.

I am not a "child beater"... I...grew up in common sense days. Respect is began in fear of repercussion. "If I disobey, I might get my ass whooped"...kids today just threaten to call child protective services.

I had two daughters. They are adults now. I only had to spank them once or twice as children...but the "thought" of a spanking made them stop and reconsider their actions several times. I don't know how to explain this to illogical human beings...no...you don't "beat" things into your kids...you punish them in a way that makes them stop and evaluate the situation before they continue doing something wrong...what is wrong with that idea?

I tell you what...there is nothing wrong with that idea...it worked for several thousand years before the libtards got involved...many that never even had kids...but hey...thank God mine are grown and my daughters are not interested in growing the population in this climate...they are clever ladies.

OP, you really nailed it. When I was 11, I had regular babysitting jobs three or four times per week. When I turned 14, I got my working papers (very proud day for me), and got a job in a local variety store. I worked two or three nights per week and all day Saturday (store was closed on Sunday). My brother was a golf caddy starting at about 11 as well. He worked as a caddy (carrying two heavy bags around an 18 hole course), all day Sat. and Sun. When we were a little older we both worked in a grocery store, and I also babysat, and he still did the caddy job. We actually helped pay for rent, utilities and food. What the hell happened to us?

The liberals said we can't expect our kids to help support the family....that is what happened...That is stupid....we of foreign descent...(I'm Scot Irish) know our "whole" family is required for success....but the Libtards want to make them passive sheep so they can control them....

Thank you man...I honestly do appreciate the sentiment.

I did not start this thread to make another polarizing issue. I simply wanted to remind those of us that are older and enlighten the ounger that there was a time we were the greatest country in the world....not so much anymore. Why?...well...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what we changed that does not seem to work.

I love our European brothers...they have a unique way of pointing out our shortcomings and pitfalls...they have watched us for centuries now and I respect their opinions. As said earlier, there was a time that all eyes of Europe was on us and they all wanted to be like us...then...something happened...and we unraveled...and I think I have shown that...

I don't belittle the eastern and western Europeans that point out our downfalls...they..of all people...have a right to point it out...they dreamed of being what we were...they of all people should be able to point out what we are "not" now....

That is true. it's not so much the farm thing as an inherent ethic...we all need to work to contribute to the family.

I made an observation years ago concerning the Asians...this is not a hateful observation...just an observation. (Ignore some of the stereotypes...but they are what they are)...for instance...

An Asian family will spend all their money to send a member to the USA. He goes to work for an Asian restaurant. He works night and day..he sleeps on the floor with 6 others and saves every dime. A couple years later he gets enough money together and he sends for another member of the family. They work, save their money eating rice and drinking water....then they send for a third. A few more months and they open their own restaurant. They become wealthy and send for more relatives. Do you see a pattern here? If you don't, then you don't understand the power of family...this is why we are un-raveling.

This is what "WE" used to do...then we got lazy, entitled and oblivious.

I was born in 1890 and worked in a blacksmith shop. I fueled the forge and hammered the shoes before I walked to school over two miles.

Kids born in the 1960s and later are worthless. They had school buses, tractors, hot ware heaters, plumbing and electricity.

Sorry I was born in the 80's and was glad to be part of this generation. You're generation screwed up shit. Baby Boomers and the druggies of the 60's. You were responsible for a all the shit that is unfolding now and want to pass the buck on to us. You had your ride on the roller coaster and now that turn is up go around sabotaging any future other generations can have so you can retire. We understand that adults are liars of opportunity and do nothing but rob each other to survive or stimulate yourselves.

We will rebuild this world when countries like this are crumbling back in to the world that spawned them. We have the secrets, the truth, and now that time and soon this world will be in alignment you and the ways you think represent will be gone forever.

Considering the politicians you spawn think we want to work for a dead end future. Stats are stats since the 90 the middle class has gotten nothing for their effort while those who manage them robbed them. The game is up. Side with us and when the chaos comes we shall be allies. If not enjoy the fucking ride as it wipes and your cultures in to the cosmos itself. You do not belong and never will. But passing blame is all the "younger" generations do...wake up...be a fucking man or die...if you want it fixed...then fucking fix it or shut the fuck up....it's your call....since "you guys" are so fucking clever now...fix it...or aren't you smart enough to do it?

I didn't blame you I blamed those two generations moron. That wasn't me being personal it was me being social about where the problems come from and continue to.

Don't care what you are but what you try to champion as the way to make this country better is failing big and will cause a paradigm shift. I know the value of work and I don't want a handout nor have I ever taken a government check for it. There are ways to live and not be systematic matrix slave. No matter what lie you tell yourself you serve and individuals who feel they don't yet live in countries that it props means you just like them.

I learned one thing from a good math teach just because you work didn't mean you work smart. You are going to get the same fate those slags you ride because you've learned nothing about what is right before you.

You have no solutions and like your leaders will watch this country fall in to a slow and painful death. You know they sold you out and yet hope for ideals that were a cover for oligarchs and fascists.

I was born in 1985. When I turned 12 my dad began taking me to work on his own business (electrician, a/c maintenance, etc. Lots of house calls). I didn't ask to, it was MANDATORY. Every weekend, occasional weekday evening during the school year, and ALL SUMMER LONG for my entire adolescence. No, he didn't pay me much, if he paid me at all (room and board, he called it). Yes, he obeyed child labor laws, and until I was about 16 wouldn't make me do the hard stuff, mostly fetching tools and materials until then. I used to hate it, but looking back I know it was a blessing. He was, as he put it, "giving me knowledge to fall back on." And while I don't do that kind of work today, I still know how to safely wire
a house, sodder freon lines, etc. Yes, kids now (and even those of my generation) have it too easy. I always wanted to learn farming/gardening, but no one ever taught me. I guess I should have joined the FFA after all.

Re: The un-raveling of the United States of America...
I didn't start this thread to make a generational argument. If the younger generations are lacking, it is our...the older ones...fault.

I wanted to point out that there was a time that this country relied on "everyone" to be strong, brave and clever. We let the libtards in and they wanted to regulate that along with how many piss and smoke breaks you get....wtf ever.

I appreciate that some of the youngers have never been in these situations...I understand that I am talking greek to them....What I had hoped to open for conversation is what was lost...that tie that bound us together....the unity that used to be day to day life.... "If I work on your farm today and you help me on mine tomorrow"....

We have lost this for nothing but selfishness. I blame Edward Bernays....he was a clever fuck that poisoned us 60+ years ago....I'll leave it up to you to research that...he was a true fucker...a clever one...but a fucker nonetheless. here is a lead in to the damage this guy did over the years...he and his "oh so clever uncle"....Sigmund Freud.

This is a 4 hour video...I suggest watching it on youtube direct and bookmarking it where you stop to finish it. i cannot describe how important this video is to understanding the shape of the world we now have...please watch it in it's entirety and thank you BBC for providing it.

I'll be back, gotta work a lot this weekend so prob not so much the next few days...I have a deadline to hit.
