Re: Growing up in the 90's
What i find interesting is the fact almost every post has people reminising about TV.. We were so brainwashed its unreal.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5163648

No.Were just reminiscing on pop culture.
 Quoting: dramaqueen

but you gotta agree.. when an era is being missed over its pop culture.. that is sad. so sad.

you know what i miss -- in general? playing outside from sunup to sundown. traipsing through 100 acres of old wooded land. discovering what it means to be human, and all the pain and pleasures that go along with it. shit.. i think i am going to play outside tomorrow..

Re: Growing up in the 90's
I was a teenager in the 90's. Movies, music, and video games were awesome. No Katy Perry or Lady Gaga shit. Action and comedy movies worth watching, even from the 80's. Technology sucked though, luckily we've passed the VCR and cassette phase and have non-analog digital technology such as hi def.

That's the only positive I can think of, better technology. Other than that, the 00's decade blew, and this decade doesn't seem to be any better.

There isn't really anything interesting anymore, but maybe that's just me. I wonder what kids are up to these days, I rarely see anyone playing outside. I remember summers when I was outside playing with friends every day.

Re: Growing up in the 90's
Hey DQ - nice reminiscent thread. Although I was a 90's mom - kids same age as you - and thinking of my little boy in his ninja turtle pjs and standing in lines with my daughter waiting for the newest beanie baby. They are all packed up in the garage now, so it seems a little crazy, you know? But it was good fun.

HAHA! Trust me 'liberal' was the 60s and 70s. And that lame blame game will get you nowhere in life.

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

Trapper Keepers, boom boxes, Fruit Stripes Gum, Gameboy, Goosebumps, pogs, Skip It....the list can go on and on.

Life felt different...it was happier. Families were closer and things meant SO MUCH more. Then, somewhere, it all fell to shit!

Arcades.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19675751

My kids will never really know what a true arcade is -- just the tiny little ones at the cineplex. When I was a kid you could spend all day at the mall arcade with $5.00 worth of quarters.

Re: Growing up in the 90's
There is a CLEAR fucking difference between being BORN in the 90s and "growing up" in the 90s.

I'm sick and fucking tired of you little teeny bopper losers taking credit for a decade that you know NOTHING about and weren't even old enough to walk, talk, or know what was cool until long after.

I was born in 1986, but I don't talk about "growing up" in the 80s because that's just a LIE.

The whole "growing up in...(whatever decade)" is conveniently worded for you little punks who were BORN during that decade, but want to get credit for being conscious and coherent then.

WHAT THE FUCK GIVES!

And if you haven't had the nostalgia by yourself, you haven't lived yet. Yes, we all remember all those things listed and 100+ things more and have revisited them many times over. It's fake ass people like this here that would allow the media to SELL them the 90s all over again (which is proof you weren't there the first time, if you would buy into it now)... there's no way it would ever be the same.

Stop cheapening memories and needing other people to have nostalgia with you. You are a conformist and need approval. Get it from yo' mama.

Geez OP, you just named about the worst things in the 90s. The early 90's was a great era in music, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Wu Tang Clan, etc., Until it all turned into crap from the mid 1990's continuing on until now.

I was born in '79. Can I please have your permission to post some of my fond memories of traversing part of elementary school, on through all of high school, some college, and into living on my own all within the decade of the 90s?

You seem so upset; I want to make sure I am qualified to give my opinion here before I make you even more upset.
