Exactly. People in the US are always saying how awful the NHS is yet if you have a with serious long term illness here in general you get will get it treated and pay no more than your taxes. I know multiple people who are alive today and are not destitute because of our health care system.

I don't understand why Americans are so against universal healthcare.

It would cost half as much as their current system (because all that money wouldn't be lining the pockets of the insurance companies) and everyone would be healthier, leading to a fitter workforce.

Can't they see that the insurance companies are working in cahoots with the medical profession to con them?

Yesterday was a walk in the park as far as predicting what headline he would attack. Romney is such a phony bologna puppet who embarrassed himself abroad and you knew Rush would quickly try to knock down the media as liars for reporting it.

Rush has been doing it so long, he is on cruise control I think. Nowadays he is so obvious and childlike in his deceptions. He used to be more convincing where one might say "OK, maybe this guy does beleive what he is saying".
Then again, its a real tough task making Romney look serious.

He doesn't have one.

We do not send Israel cash. We do not fund their healthcare system. What we give them is essential gift cards to American defense contractors. This helps with their protection and provides for a lot of jobs here. I personally think that all foreign aid is morally wrong, but at least recognize the facts.

Sadly, the next election will be between a Liberal democrat and a Communist. With Obama on the ticket, the Republicans could have fielded a good conservative candidate. And he/she would have won. But instead will have Romney. God help us all.

Of course he praises them. But not because his handlers want him to.

Most medical supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals are made here in the USA (I should say USA owned corporations, not necessarily made here). If a country taxes the crap out of their citizens to provide healthcare, they turn and spend that money here buying the necessary supplies to furnish that care.

From a capitalist point of view, it's a win-win. Even in Massachusetts, state funded care still had to buy supplies. The general population pay taxes that the "state" then spends to private corporations...win-win for the corporations and the elite.

Not being facetious here...just an observation.

And that happens everyday. And it is really horrible to have insurance but still get a 100K bill and then get forced into bankruptcy. America's medical system is broken beyond belief.

His point was the COST of healthcare--8% versus 18%.

And remember, other countries do not have the large percentage of totally non-productive populations that we have in this country.

And giving them more benefits and making them more comfortable is not going to make them any more productive.

We already spend about half out total federal budget on Medicare for the elderly and Medicaid for the poor! How much is enough?
