here's a map of louisiana fault line:
(please someone embed these images)
[link to wafb.images.worldnow.com]

map of louisiana earthquakes since 1999 (check out the pattern)

got the maps from this 2011 article:
Geologists: Louisiana may be overdue for earthquake
[link to www.wafb.com]
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21195063

someone please embed the maps

and seriously, look at the patterns of quakes since 1999
they appear to be radiating up the state of louisiana
perhaps the problem itself is under the gulf and is "fanning" outwards
methane on the move?

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
just to back up a few other glp'ers sentiments....I am the creator of this thread which seemed to help get the ball rolling with respect to the upsurge in sinkhole/water main rupture activity for the last 2 weeks especially!

Thread: Sinkhole Doom...FOUR Siren Sinkhole Alert .....New York,Philadelphia,Baltimore past 3 days!

Now as I mentioned in this thread if you check it, I was really having trouble understanding how chick filet sandwiches can get pinned over something as serious as this!

And today I see frustration being expressed because of an olympic arrest for not smiling!

I am mind boggled like everyone else and it only helps illustrate that even in alternative thinking and awareness we have silly and trivial issues that get promoted and pinned while 1st rate and undeniable doom potential phenomenon get carefully and delicately pushed to the back pages!

These sinkholes in my humble opinion should have the highest priority of concern from humanity as they can poison our air and water, but without stable and solid ground there is nothing worth building or planning for in the future.

Thanks to all who have been following these threads and contributing and a big heartfelt thanks to RadChick for her efforts and contributions!

There can be no solid building of any type without soolid ground to lay a solid foundation
 Quoting: Himbe Uhuru 7 18397712

These instances plus all the sink holes appearing all over the world is starting to make me think there is no solid ground anymore.
 Quoting: alexisj9

Hey Alexis I agree with you 100% if these events were localized it would not be so worrisome however these occurences are not limited to infrastructure, drought,or extreme weather....they seem to be occuring independently of those factors and in many geographic areas!

I would wager some time in the near future an NFL foot ball game will be postponed or delayed or maybe even interrupted in the middle of the game as a sinkhole opens up for the masses to finally see.

Then perhaps the panic will begin...but yeah I am already extremely concerned and am advising all family and friends that now is the time to love unconditionally!

None of us are safe with these increasing and more damaging weather out breaks and sinkhole occurences

Much love to the people of Louisiana and the planet as we seem to be entering the beginning of sorrows!

P.S. for the past week I have been reconsidering what has been taught about archaeology...as in digging up bones bodies, and cities from under ground....well how do all these archaelogical remains end up buried and hidden under so much earth...

Starting to make the connection...brings new meaning to the phrase "from the cradle to the grave" ashes to ashes...dust to dust

Louisiana is steadily subsiding, slipping downwards and sloughing off into the Gulf of Mexico.

I mean, look at those earthquake maps. Picture in your mind a paper plate of mud. The mud would kind of fissure and slide, fissure and slide some more just like that if you slowly tilted the paper plate.

We have built levees that keep the Mississippi from replenishing the land with silt.

We have pulled nobody knows how much gas out from deep underground.

The land is just settling and sliding down like a tilted paper plate of mud.

i know!
that eq map is telling
the pattern is astounding really

then we look back to the gulf oil disaster and know something related happened there
methane blew
and has been moving
while louisiana appears to be sinking
many parts are below sea level, hence the levies
and horrible flooding after katrina

there is, imo, an apparent major shift happening in that state
we've been seeing the symptoms for awhile now
how long until something big happens that triggers a domino effect?

and what are people not being told? i have a strong feeling a lot is being held back about this particular situation and has been for a long time
matt simmons knew a lot

then there's the new madrid...

this is, imho, the most important thread on glp atm

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
Sinking into the Sea
[link to americanradioworks.publicradio.org]

We're flying over Louisiana's wetlands. Coastal wetlands are lands that get flooded by tides. They're bursting with life, like rainforests , and these are some of the greatest wetlands on Earth. They sprawl 300 miles along the Gulf of Mexico, and they go up to 50 miles inland. They're the heart of the Mississippi Delta; and this astonishing landscape is vanishing. Good says if we'd taken this helicopter trip 50 years ago, it would have looked like the Great Plains.

"Exactly. It would look just like the prairies in the Midwest," says Good. "They were very solid, vast expanses of grass, of beautiful area, of verdant green from horizon to horizon."

The Real Reason Louisiana is Sinking
[link to www.livescience.com]
The sinking of Louisiana's Gulf coast could be due to the shallowest delta sediments pushing down the underneath layers, a new study suggests.

Louisiana's coastal erosion causes the loss of land at a catastrophic rate of 25 to 35 square miles per year, equivalent to one football field every 15 minutes. [Map]

Many scientists believe that the subsidence, as the sinking is called, takes place because as sediment accumulates and the Mississippi Delta thickens, the crust of the Earth as a whole gets pressed downward. The withdrawal of oil, gas, and groundwater are also blamed for the submerging delta. (Similar subsidence has been noted in Southern California and in many other states due to extensive pumping of groundwater, petroleum products and other reasons.)

amen, anne.
logically following this, looking at the big picture and the connections we know of (and who knows how many connections we aren't even aware of yet) i don't see how this can just "stop". it's obviously progressing and has been for awhile and is well out of control of man despite whatever officials may say.

they need to man up and be honest.

Over at the left, below the OP's avatar, will be a list of options.

Look on down through the options to find something like "karma pin thread". Click on that.

One local guy asked if there was any kind of equipment anybody might have, even military, to take readigs and figure out what exactly down there.

The best answer he got was that the "relief well" was going to accomplish that.
