All depends on the budget - Less than 400: Shotgun is the most versatile option - 1k : Shotgun and Pistol - 2k: Above + Good hunting rifle + 10/22 - 3k or more: All above, plus good AR or AK Survivalist drool on the military tactical but forget the practical. SHTF scenario, your primary goal is food not warfare. Any skirmish you might have will last only a few secs and will be in close range, so good training and mental readiness beats any gun.
