Re: BREAKING-power of 100 Hiroshima nuclear bombs...evacuation of citizens in Assumption Parish.
I'm gonna be called a bibletard again, but whatever, here is a quote from my thread..

Fifth Trumpet:

Rev 9:1-2 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
I believe -one- of the representations of this would be on our planet, the pits being volcanoes..

->Fiery Object Falls from the Sky, Starts Fire in Reno, NV:www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd8JnNHhLeo
On -14th- July we had a X -1.4- CME that headed towards Earth, that was huge energy, probably many can resonate with that.
Expect lots of tectonic activity around the globe and possibly around Reno, all along the coast... Also stay tuned for london olympics now...

->The fifth angel is Samael, related to Mars.

Rev 9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

The fifth trumpets times will last 5 months. That's until the 21st december 2012.
 Quoting: 1908247

Sixth trumpet says: "Which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a moth, and a year, for to slay the third part of men."
Prepared to a date? We do have a certain date set, 21st december. I will not go on about it, but the mayan prophecy is something reliable, just search about it. Also, they never said it was the end of the world. Count 5 months back and we have a date for the 5th trumpet: 21st July. Close to the opening games in London

A possible breach of a butane-filled well 1500 feet from Bayou Corne's sinkhole, the size of three football fields, is so "very serious," it has Assumption Parish sheriff and local residents ordered to evacuate worried about a catastrophic explosion, one according to scientists in an Examiner investigation, would be in the range of one and a half B83 thermonuclear (hydrogen) bombs, the most powerful United States weapons in active service......

OP remembers the Macondo BP disaster. Did they not drill into a salt dome? Salt sucks up water and dissolves. Could this be what is happening to form the sinkholes?
If so, then it should become logarithmically faster and faster as the salt mixes freely with the water.
The other poster mentioned a huge deposit of methane, also. So we got:
1-Methane
2-Butane
in a mixture of salt and water.
Even without a spark this could boil over!!!!

Or the giant gas cloud could get into the upper atmosphere and the sun could detonate it and knock the Earth off its axis!

Here is a pdf of shale gas maps for the lower 48 states. I would think if you had a huge explosion near the gulf that could continue to ignite until it was up in Pennsylvania from the looks of this map. Also from Texas to Iowa. It looks like a continuous vein.

And they've been pumping the fucker (sinkhole well) full of radioactive waste for 2 years!!!

"The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) had quietly permitted Texas Brine Company LLC to pump radioactive waste into its now failing cavern near the sinkhole DNR also hid documents showing that cavern may have had problems since 2010."

5 stars OP, and pin requested..

"Does anyone remember during the Oil Spill, there was alot of talk of a frozen methane bubble located below the fractured rock strata pierced by the well head.

I remember certain engineers positing that even if they are able to cap the well, the pressure has been released and will find its way to the surface by the path of least resistance. To me, that would be the fragile salt domes that dissolve when exposed to water. The gases are escaping all over the bayou, not just in the sinkhole that leads me to believe the soure of the problem is coming from deep within the earth and not a single brine well...it doesn't make sense.

What is scary is that the US Petroleum Reserve is in Weeks, Island Louisiana in a nearby salt dome. If this thing were to blow it would ignite far more than the butane stored 1500 yards away...it could according to some create a massive methane volcano and that is what the Government, the Coast Guard and especially BP do not want you to know."
 Quoting: Slick Vick

I remember talk about the methane bubble, and Matt Simmons warning about it.

I was one of the engineers warning about that , there is also a PREDICTION of a large explosion inland that will make South of USA to sink into the Gulf of mexico...

There is a LARGE gas dome about to RUPTURE that goes all the way down to BP macondo well, Avove that was a SALT dome broken by nuclear testing Years disolving with underground water giving way to the sink holes miles north inland.

Will be less destructive if ignited at release some .5 megaton blast , will be Continental destructive 2,500 megatons if ignited late after release , so start ignighting the boilout points NOW ! else it will be a mounstrous continental destruct THERMOBARIC bomb that will make kracatoa look like small rat fart ...

cool2
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20506313

Thanks... Can you give us, in YOUR opinion, an percentage estimate of this actually happening, or at any explosion happening at all??? There are a lot of factors mixed up here from the sinkhole, to the neighboring methane, to the criss-crossing pipelines, to the natural methane as well as neighboring or possible connected rigs, wells, etc..

Not sure why people are slamming this thread, it's completely plausible.. People were freaking out when Matt Simmons said the whole gulf could blow if the macando ocean floor cracks, correct?? Well, if this is connected, it's already a worse case scenario.. If it goes off, with all the pressurized flammables in the vacinity, not to mention the natural flammables you've mentioned, this is doom if I've ever heard it.. There's no way to really fix this, is there?

Re: BREAKING-power of 100 Hiroshima nuclear bombs...evacuation of citizens in Assumption Parish.
Surely an explosion would only happen if the gas pocket is premixed with air, which it is not.

If you took a jar of pure methane and the lid had a spark plug igniter in it, then it would NOT ignite unless you had some oxygen (air) in the mix.

So I'm thinking if this cavern were ruptured and it ignited it would be one godforsaken erupting fireball as the gas vented, mixed with the air and then burnt, but not an explosion.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21825324

^^^^
Agreed.

Yes, it could become a gigantic BIC lighter.
It certainly wouldn't be pleasant to be near,
but it would not induce an explosive shock wave.

Maybe a "woof" and a steady breeze as it burns.
 Quoting: Truthache

BUT, it is not Methane, it is Butane. Butane ha a bit different molecular structure and flash points. We do not know what percentage, if any, oxygen is in that cavern. Any access to O2 and..abomb

Yes, because the olympics involved a literal timebomb just waiting to go off, right?? This is, in my opinion (and I'm sure many others) more of an explosion threat than anything having to do with the oil spill..

There are steel pipelines bordering the sinkhole (some of which have already bent from the sinkhole) that are old, rusty, and regardless of condition can break and spark, OR just break, making it even worse..

ALso, who the fuck knows how much radioactive waste is actually in there, we will never have an honest measurement there..

So imagine a methnae-mega-bomb, not only blowing the fuck out of everything, but blasting nulcear waste everywhere and setting off chain reactions in a highly flammable and volatile gas/oil/waste setting.. No good!
