Margaret Thatcher blasting Socialism. A must read.
This is beautiful.

"There’s no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation.

Many of our troubles are due to the fact that our people turn to politicians for everything.

The Labour Party believes in turning workers against owners; we believe in turning workers into owners.

Good Conservatives always pay their bills. And on time. Not like the Socialists who run up other people’s bills.

Socialists have always spent much of their time seeking new titles for their beliefs, because the old versions so quickly become outdated and discredited.

Let me give you my vision: A man’s right to work as he will, to spend what he earns, to own property, to have the state as servant and not as master. These are the British inheritance. They are the essence of a free country, and on that freedom all of our other freedoms depend.

Communist regimes were not some unfortunate aberration, some historical deviation from a socialist ideal. They were the ultimate expression, unconstrained by democratic and electoral pressures, of what socialism is all about. … In short, the state [is] everything and the individual nothing.

Freedom is not synonymous with an easy life. … There are many difficult things about freedom: It does not give you safety, it creates moral dilemmas for you; it requires self-discipline; it imposes great responsibilities; but such is the nature of Man and in such consists his glory and salvation.

We who are living in the west today are fortunate. Freedom has been bequeathed to us. We have not had to carve it out of nothing; we have not had to pay for it with our lives. But it would be a grave mistake to think that freedom requires nothing of us. Each of us has to earn freedom anew in order to possess it. We do so not just for our own sake, but for the sake of our children, so that they may build a better future that will sustain over the world the responsibilities and blessings of freedom.

I do agree with this post, however, I disagree with one portion, which follows:

Our service men and women may not be fighting for freedom in the sense that those of the revolutionary war or others, simply due to the fact that our leaders do not mind puting our Hero's in harms way for political gain, while their children go to Harvard and play rugby and row.

However, our servicemen and women die all the time for the "Idea of Freedom" upon which is their beliefs when they are sent into harms way. They fight for their Country, and the fight for their Mates, their "freinds", "Battle Buddy", they fight for their families and the guy next to them who is fighting for the guy next to him.

It has been said that WAR is an extention of Politics, it should not be this way. Our Country, is going down the wrong path, at the end of this path, resides full out Communism. It amazes me that the First Black Man to become President has led us further down this road that any of the White Presidents before him. I do not know if the saying "The Road to hell is paved with good intentions" or if, maybe it should be "Greed, is the alter upon which good men are sacrificed".

How can it lead to a prosperous society if it basically tells people that whether they're productive or not someone else will always support them? It's the antithesis of prosperity!

You folks trust your socialist governments more than corporations and yet there's not one single convincing argument that says socialist governments can't become as corrupt as corporations. Yet it is clear to anyone with a thinking brain that it is much harder to bring down a government which became too powerful than it is to bring down a corporation that has gained monopoly AS LONG as government remains in it's proper dimensions.

These are undeniable points which socialists just wish to dismiss in order to continue with their utopian beliefs. I guess we will have to let 100 million more people be murdered by totalitarian states gone bad for them to finally get it, although that didn't work last time.

Isn't it amazing that the west spent 50 years fighting the rise of communism? And after the fall of the soviets, we embrace(we being the sheep). Simply put what was the point of the cold war?

Profit for the military industrial complex, which if it wasn't because of the disproportionate power of the state over affairs of the nation, would never have become so pervasive.

The problem at the bottom line is statism, whether is of the left or right it's of not so much relevance.

Re: Margaret Thatcher blasting Socialism. A must read.
The left and the right are just playing with people's political tendencies to bring about supreme power of the state over individuals. The conspiracy was from the beginning to swap those national kings or leaders who wished to keep the nations separate with insiders who would erode societies with a left/right paradigm until they would be willing to accept a global kingdom ruled by those very conspirators.

The transcendental philosophic idea is not to cheer for the left or for the right, but for a free system which doesn't allow either the state nor the corporations supreme power over the individual, but for this, as Thatcher well stated, the individuals need to become responsible for themselves and not fall for the leftist rhetoric of a huge state for the sake of helping the needy, nor let the right create a huge state for the sake of patriotism.

When the state has too much power, the corporations also gain power because corruption will always exist in the high spheres and they will find a way to become protected by public money. This is the fallacy of the left, to foment big government with the excuse of protecting the workers from the capitalists.

Read my posts man, it isn't capitalism, it's STATISM, the big government socialists advocate. What is it going to be, that you will only claim the achievements of big government when it goes your way? When you foment big government you set up a path which can quickly get out of your hands. You people are gullible and fall for any populist leader who tells you that allowing a bigger government will cure all social ills, you never stop to think if that leader is saying the truth, if his promises are even possible nor what will happen when that leader is replaced by someone else to be in charge of BIG GOVERNMENT.

Liberals are unable to detach individuals from ideas when it's about a rival ideology, but when it's about their own, they're always too quick to say that socialism is a great idea but was just unfortunately badly implemented by the wrong people in the past and that's why it failed.
