Will your "right gear" last 25-50 years? That's how long it will take after a pole shift for things to start clearing out. Another 50 years for things to be completely cleared out.

Let's face it: 90 percent of all living things will die in a pole shift. You people have no concept of what it entails. Unless you have canned food and water stored to last 50 years, you will not survive. Chance are you food stores didn't survive either.

Those who survive will barely survive, but they will. Who wants to live like that? Maybe only the young, who have the stamina and the determination, and most of all, the time to duke it out on a planet not fit for the living.

Some will survive and replenish the earth as they have in the past. The earth will also replenish and once again provide food for those who live on her surface.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19283309

If surviving a pole shift is not the ultimate human triumph what is? That's a citation I want on my wall!

Re: i would like to raise a very important survival question - one that will affect us all - you may die without the answer
I underwent psychic attack years ago which started me on the path of soul searching. As an unexpected consequence, I began to receive spiritual messages in dream state and during its peak, during meditation as well. One of my dreams involved a giant reddish celestial body approaching our sun. I was watching at an angle (not from earth) in which it was eclipsing the sun. Before I heard of this brown dwarf, I mistakenly perceived it to be a planet. I intuitively felt that this was the event we as a collective consciousness have been sensing. The vision then suddenly cuts out and I see a woman who looks like a spokesperson for an ad and she is promoting a book whose title is sort of generic but I can't exactly remember. It was something like: "The Meaning of Life 101." She is holding the book just above her right shoulder as you would expect in a zoom-in for an infomercial, looks directly into the audience, and says simply: "...until then, live life to the fullest." This can mean different things to different folks. For me, it meant that there are things I cannot control and that for now, I am to appreciate the good things, enjoy life's blessings, be good to my fellow man, and work towards contributing to humanity. To be and create happiness now...to forge forward with ambitions and dreams as though there will be a tomorrow--that's pretty much what I took away. I know this reads like a hallmark greeting card, but it felt very close to the source.

WELL - fuck. I'm dead then. I'm 18 and I'm now just hearing about these things that are supposedly right around the corner. Might as well live it up now because I sure as hell don't have enough money to buy things that will keep me alive 25 years + DIY.

take it easy man, buy some ER food bars, make a plan on where you could go (somewhere high elevation) learn wild edible stuff, get yourself a good knife and learn snares and traps. buy a katadyn water filter (endurance series)

all of that was cheap advice...anyone can do.

this is possible, good advice...but..
bet you a million dollars this won't work. NANO particles....

nano particles, look into them, they are very hard thing to find in nature. military labs make nano iron oxide, its a difficult process. a star would have no problem making the best nano iron oxide...

btw recommended dig for safety away from water is 50 feet....

Using the Earth Itself to Filter Ground Water

"The ground itself makes for a great water filter. If you are near a water source that is less than clean, use the ground to filter it. Go about 50 feet from the standing water, and dig. If your "pit" looks less than clean after you hit water, give it a few minutes, or continue scooping out water and discarding until it clears up. This same method works even for sea water. For seawater, I would move a little further inland... maybe 50 yards or more before digging. You should strike fresh water there. The further you can go without a significant increase in elevation, the better your chances of getting a good fresh water supply."

im organizing all my stuff into 6 giant bags, im pretty much set for the apocolypse, this is the last thing i need... (said that before though,,,lol)

these bags even have 2 big buoys on each side to be held up if my rafts fail. (if i need a raft)

i have 3, 5 person rafts (900 pounds capacity).

1 raft for me and my family, 1 raft for my bags, 1 raft backup

you wouldn't believe the amount of thought i have put in these 6 bags over the last 8 years

Not trying to be a smart ass here, buuut, how's come you've "put a lot of thought" into these 6 bags, but don't know how you'll filter water?

BTW - My suggestion for filtering water (is what I plan to do) is moringa plant. the seeds ground down are good for filtering water.

i have the best portable water filter there is by katadyn, endurance series...i dont have to change the filter for 1.5 human lifetimes, its military grade for running water...

standing water has charcoal filter replacements

Resin catalytic filter we use one as a whole facility filter the end result is pure water ( no rust or any other contaminates ie iron oxide), this is NOT reverse osmosis.

Re: i would like to raise a very important survival question - one that will affect us all - you may die without the answer
to many this is a conspiracy THEORY - to some of us, it is a well known - researched and documented FACT

A second sun is approaching our solar system
Thread: PROOF and History of Wormwood, Nibiru, Hercolubus, The dragon, Planet X, Hidden Message in movie BABYLON AD - New VIDEO

This second sun is what is known as a brown dwarf.
Extending far away from the brown dwarf trillions upon trillions of pounds of red iron oxide dust surrounds this star… As this iron oxide gets close enough much of it is dumped in our atmosphere turning a third of the rivers into what looks like blood, rendering it undrinkable and deadly.

THE GREAT SURVIVAL QUESTION WE FACE IS

HOW DO YOU FILTER OUT IRON OXIDE DUST SO YOU CAN DRINK THE WATER AGAIN?

it is my understanding most filters, even high end ones, cannot filter out this iron oxide without reverse osmosis, to which POWER is needed. how can we do this WITHOUT power?

or am i wrong and there are filters that can do this?

--------------------------------------------------

The Kolbrin. (Egyptian Great Book)

CHAPTER THREE
THE DESTRUCTION AND RE-CREATION

"The Earth vomited forth great gusts of foul breath from awful mouths opening up in the midst of the land. The
evil breath bit at the throat before it drove men mad and killed them. Those who did not die in this manner were
smothered under a cloud of red dust and ashes, or were swallowed by the yawning mouths of Earth or crushed
beneath crashing rocks."
 Quoting: Daersoulkeeper

How can this be? IF there were any iron dust circulating around Nibiru, wouldn't it have settled back to the planet eons ago? There also can't be any moons "trailing" Nibiru through space since there is no friction in space, so they must be in orbit around Nibiru. If there are moons.

this isnt about nibiru

its about wormwood

just like our sun and we circle around our sun

so nibiru circles around wormwood

wormwood has a cloud of iron oxide around it JUST AS BROWN DWARFS ARE COMPOSED OF THIS

we are a long ways away from our sun

nibiru is a good distance away from its sun....

distillation. get a non-electric waterwise 1600. works well enough. get 2. its the only model I know not requireing electricity and it supposidly does 16 gallons a day. I can tell you that might be true if you hang out and monitor and feed it water every hour for 24 hours. we get about 4 gallons an evening.

Re: i would like to raise a very important survival question - one that will affect us all - you may die without the answer
My BIL got back to me re:potable water:

Neither system is "perfect".

The non-electric distiller will definitely give you high quality, ultra safe water. The downside to it is how much fuel it will consume with its slow output in order to generate enough water to meet household needs in an emergency. The key to it being viable in an emergency will be access to sufficient fuel, as well as a water source. In the case of the distiller, literally any water source is viable, even salt water.

Berkey (short-hand derivative of British Berkefeld) on the other hand, operates without any power or fuel requirements. Two shortcomings of note exist with this system. The ceramic candle filter elements are somewhat fragile and if cracked, become useless. Second, the filtration will only remove cyst and bacteria, but will not address virus removal. If a water system fails (e.g., City of Richardson), it may likely be that viruses could be present in the water. In the case of water overflowing from sewage treatment plant flooding, there will definitely be virus concern. To resolve the virus issue, you would need to add chlorine or iodine to the water after filtering and let it sit for a period of time (5-10 minutes with strong dosage; 30-60 minutes with weaker dosing; water temperature will impact it too; colder temperature takes longer). As you can see there are variables that can leave you guessing and chlorine bleach doesn't store stabily for long periods of time without deteriorating. Lastly, the chlorine or iodine won't taste good, especially the iodine or the chlorine in higher dosage.

For compact storage, faster output, and less fragility I would look at something like the MSR Auto Flow Gravity Filter, [link to cascadedesigns.com] and still plan on using chlorine or iodine after filtering just like described above. If using iodine tablets, you can follow with using a neutralizing citric acid tablet to knock down the iodine taste. Multi-step process, but a viable option in an emergency.

For a hand pump option, check out [link to cascadedesigns.com] which you see includes chlorine in a small bottle for final treatment (remember there is a shelf-life issue so don't put it in the closet and forget about it for years and expect it to still be good).

Seldon can only sell to US military and export markets for now, but that is expected to change by early 2013. At that point, I could make other drink-through pump or straw-like recommendations for purifying (inclusive of virus removal) without having to add chemicals. [link to seldontechnologies.com]

Hope this helps. Bottom line is that the most versatile and long lasting option that can handle the highest level of contamination will be the distiller you found. I would just be very concerned about keeping the heat going for so long and going through so much fuel to get the job done. It will be incredibly inefficient and time consuming to tend to / monitor and operate the unit for enough water for a household for a few days, let alone if looking after neighbors.

The gravity feed hollow fiber bag from MSR with some chlorine from Cascade Designs/MSR in a diluted somewhat more stable solution would likely be your best bet, give higher output, store in less space, will not be fragile (except that it will be ruined if it ever freezes even once!), and costs a lot less and require no fuel.

Thank you for your reply.

BUT The Berkey is NOT a British Berkefeld.
The Berkey is a Chinese copy sold mainly in the USA.
If you do a search for Berkey black filters you can read the horror stories.

I use my British Berkefeld to filter tap water, but if SHTF then I would filter rain water, I currently have 500L stored, which fortunately is legal in the UK.
The candles are quite fragile and I do need to buy some spares. I do have a large quantity of bleach and some water purifying tablets.

distillation. get a non-electric waterwise 1600. works well enough. get 2. its the only model I know not requireing electricity and it supposidly does 16 gallons a day. I can tell you that might be true if you hang out and monitor and feed it water every hour for 24 hours. we get about 4 gallons an evening.

^^ This

You can distill anything with a coat hanger, pot & lid, and heat source.

Stock up on sterno, candles, and indoor lamp oil. Olive oil is the best survival fuel but it is expensive. You can eat it or burn it in lamps.

the "black berkey" filter elements (the non-ceramic) were designed in the united states. the ceramic ones are still called "berkefeld", and are usually only found in europe, i think. or am i mistaken?

thank you so much for the reply TechRaider

i really wanted to buy the waterwise distiller but when i looked for reviews. i found this

[link to www.amazon.com]

absolutely horrible reviews

does anyone actually own this unit on this site? the last review here is very recent

review 1

"I purchased this as a gift for someone else. When he opened it, it was clear that the product was poorly conceived and poorly made. The pot is stainless steel, but way too thin. The rest of it is thin and poorly soldered. The one I purchased arrived broken and could not be used. Not worth the money."

review 2

"This is absolute junk! Not only is it very poorly and cheaply made, but I'm afraid to drink the distilled water that comes from it for fear of metal poisoning! It is advertized as being all stainless steel, and looks that way in the pictures, but the picture does not show you the underside and inner parts of the coolant tray assembly. The water coolant tray assembly where the distilled water drips from is NOT made of stainless steel, but instead, some rough and dirty metal alloy that contaminates the water and makes it taste horrible! It doesn't matter how much you clean it, or what you clean it with, or how many litres of water you boil, the water that comes out has a sticky feel to it and a strange metallic taste. This is a rip-off! Buyer beware!"

review 3
"I have purchased this and returned promptly. All I had to do is take a close look. Hope to spare you the waste of time I have included pictures of the waterwise ww1600."

if you look at the pictures you can see rust on the pipe where the water drips out, reviewers said it makes the water taste like rust

my plan was to buy the 1600 distiller

and use it with this!

[link to www.ebay.com]

PORATBLE SOLAR BARBECUE! temperatures get up to 500 degrees F!!! (which means on cloudy day, it can still boil water, at half temp)

elimination of fuel problem!

that and i also have a ROCKET STOVE , VERY VERY efficient fuel burning stone for the cloudy days
