I~m sorry you had to go through that  The pain will ease in time. Remember his wife and what she must be going through also. You tried your best  She was so happy that I was there and that I acted and tried to help. The wife reminds me of my grandmother. They were going to celebrate their 60th anniversary next month. Aww poor old darling. 60 yrs is an amazing length of time to be married. They were soul mates for sure. Just check in on her now and again to make sure she is alright, plus it will help you mend also. I promised her I would. I couldn't imagine spending that much time with the same person and now having to do it alone.
