Hantavirus in Yellowstone
So do the mice actually like spray-fart into your mouth while sleeping or they randomly bite you? And if 20 percent of these mice have it, then why aren't there more reports of it anywhere there are deer mice? 500+ reports in almost 20 years since it showed up.

Re: Hantavirus in Yellowstone
Mice run through campsites all the time; around benches and under tarps - they can even crawl into food supplies if not carefully packed, and urinate and defecate constantly - that would be how campers might come into contact with the disease.

As to why the disease is showing up just now - that is truly an interesting question.

Re: Hantavirus in Yellowstone
Yellowstone, I meant Yosemite haha, I watched 2012 last night lolsign

And I guess after reading the Wikipedia definition of Hantavirus that included "Hantaviruses are thought to be transmitted to humans mainly through inhalation of aerosolized rodent excreta or rodent bites."

I'm like aerosolized? Like spray? I think airborne would have been a better descriptive term, as in inhaling dried particulates of rodent dung. And yes, why now?
