First, put some mental distance between yourself and the system. You're gonna die in the end, you can't take your status and possessions and money or debt with you. The end is certain, and it is the most freeing thing to realize. All the shit we stress about is peanuts in the grandest scheme of the soul.

Second, stop playing into the divides created by TPTB to control us. Black, white, gay, straight, liberal, conservative, etc. They all mean something at a base level, but in the end, they don't really matter. TPTB are using all this stuff to make us hate each other, when we should love one another, help one another.

Third, reach out to others you wouldn't normally reach out to. Talk to that stranger on the street, they may just become your best friend or your best ally. Say hello, with a smile, to the old ladies at work. Break your social codes of who you should interact with based upon who you are. Fuck respectability and propriety and all that other PTB shit. Build real social networks that are diverse and interesting.

Fourth, organize. Be it a protest, a revolution, a group to bug out with (my suggestion), a group to make costs easier for one another, etc. Counter TPTB however you can without violence, because they LOVE violence.

Fifth, when the time comes, when you have collated enough support, when your social networks are strong enough, reach out to others who have been organizing like you, and organize further with them.

Sixth, when you have groups in place, starve the beast. Stop paying attention to them (the biggest one, TPTB are desperate attention whores), stop paying, stop voting, stop doing things for them, just STOP! Pull out the bottom and middle of the pyramid and they will be forced to either clamp down or change. Either way, their system will be naked for all to see, and morally and ethically unsupportable.

These are just my ideas on this, take or leave whatever you want from them.

Whether you protest the system with or without violence, it makes no difference. Look at the Occupy Wall Street protests - the media and others painted them in a bad light, some rotten apples made it true, and it all came tumbling down.

The first step is always the hardest, but once you start walking away from TPTB, it gets easier & easier.

If you can't change the world, change yours.
